Carson McCullers was an American short story writer.

She was at age of 23 when her first novel The heart is a Lonely
Hunter was published in 1940.
She was born in Columbus Georgia where all children wanted to
be a musician.
From the age of ten she took piano lessons. Her father gave her a
typewriter to encourage her story writing, when she was 15 .
Carson married at 20.
It was the difficult marriage that ended in her husbands suicide in
1953.
After publishing Reflections on a Golden Eye in 1941, and
Member of the Wedding in 1946 Carson established reputation
as a writer.
