WORK

i) How work is done

ii) Unit of work
iii) Calculate the work done

Work

energy used to shift an

object from one place to
another

change the shape of an

object

Work done(joules/j)= Force(Newton/N) X Distance(metre/m)

Unit= joules(j) or newton metres (N m)

Example
Pushing a chair weight 20N over a distance of 2m
Work done= 20 X 2
= 40Nm/j

Appendix 2
Identify which one work done and which
one work not done.
1. pushing a chair
2. sleeping on a bed
3. sitting on a chair
4. compressing a spring
5. brushing teeth
