DesignModeler [12 hrs]

Objective:
Learn to create and modify geometry in preparation for analysis in ANSYS Mechanical or
ANSYS Mechanical APDL. Course topics include:

Introduction to ANSYS Workbench and DesignModeler

Graphical User Interface (GUI)

Planes and Sketches

Part Modeling

Geometry Simplification and Repair

Working with other CAD Geometry (import and repair, bi-directional connectivity)

Assembly modeling

Concept Modeling: 2D solid models (plane stress and strain, axisymmetric), surface
models (shell and plate), or line models (truss and beam)
o Beams: Create line bodies and their cross sections for FE beam analysis
o Shells: Create surface models in preparation for FE shell analysis

Parametric Modeling

Meshing [12 hrs]


Objective:
Learn to create and modify their meshes in preparation for analysis in ANSYS Workbench.
The course shall cover the following topics:

Introduction to Meshing

Meshing Overview

Meshing Controls

Tetrahedral Meshing

Sweep Meshing

Multizone Meshing

Surface Meshing

Mechanical [30 hrs]


Objective:
To teach the students how to effectively use ANSYS Mechanical to build a mechanical
simulation model, analyze it and interpret the results. Course topics include:

Introduction

Mechanical Basics

General Preprocessing

Static Structural Analysis (Bars, trusses, beams, frames, 2D plane stress/strain, plate
and shell analyses, 3D analyses)

Modeling Connections

Remote Boundary Conditions

Multistep Analysis

Vibration Analysis

Linear Buckling Analysis

Heat Transfer

Results Postprocessing
