1. (a) Find the probability of having more girls than boys in a family of 5 children.
(b) Find also the probability that among 5 families, each with 5 children, at least
3 of the families have more girls than boys.
2. A fair coin was tossed 7 times and the results were observed.
(a) What is the probability that the number of heads obtained is more than the
number of tails?
(b) What is the conditional probability that at least one tail is obtained given that
the number of heads obtained is more than the number of tails?
3. (Bookwork) Let X be a Binomial random variable with parameters (n, p), 0 < p < 1.

4. Let X be an exponentially distributed random variable with parameter . Prove
that for any non-negative numbers t, x, we have
