The Honorable Senator Charles E. Grassley

Chairman, Committee on the Judiciary
135 Hart Senate Office Building
Washington, D.C. 20510

Dear Senator Grassley,

I am writing in response to your letter of October 9, 2015.
Teneo is a privately-owned global advisory firm with over 525 employees in 14 offices around the
world. We are fortunate to advise many of the world's largest and most innovative companies on
a wide range of issues, including business strategy, financial analytics, investment banking, digital
strategy, corporate and financial communications, investor relations, executive recruiting and
crisis management among others. We do not work for the Government. We do not work for
political parties or politicians. Our work on matters occurring in or around Washington, D.C.
represents an insignificant percentage of our total business.
We are deeply committed to the highest ethical and professional standards. Teneo has its own
internal compliance function, employee code of conduct, as well as an internal legal staff to ensure
we operate at all times at the highest ethical, moral and professional standards.
Huma Abedin signed her Independent Contractor Agreement with Teneo on July 27, 2012 and
was a Senior Advisor to our firm until February 2013. Teneo required Ms. Abedins affirmative
agreement by written contract not to do anything in her role with Teneo that would conflict with
her duties as an advisor to the State Department. We have no reason to believe any of her
activities as an Independent Contractor were inconsistent with the commitments she made in this
Teneo has already provided considerable information and records including Ms. Abedins contract
with Teneo to the State Department Office of the Inspector General, which we understand is
looking into Ms. Abedins status and activities while she worked as a Special Government
Employee. Out of respect for the independence and integrity of that review, I respectfully refer
your office to them for any other questions you might have.
I hope this information is helpful.
