Delaware PTA Board of Directors

Dr. Terri Hodges, President
925 Bear-Corbitt Road
Room 101
Bear, DE. 19701
Dear Delaware PTA:
In keeping with the policies and procedures regarding National PTA Affiliates in Non-Compliance with the Standards of
Affiliation, this letter serves as formal notification that Delaware PTA stands in noncompliance of National PTA Standard
of Affiliation II.5 which states:
PTA Affiliates shall submit legislative priorities that are not in conflict with National PTAs positions.
In our previous communication, dated February 15, National PTA respectfully requested that the Delaware PTA Board of
Directors take the following actions, effective immediately, to ensure compliance:
1. Amend or rescind the Delaware PTA Position Statement on Parent Opt Out HB50. National PTA recognizes that
amending or rescinding a state-side resolution approved by a Convention body may take time. To that end,
National PTA would like to offer you until the close of your next Delaware State PTA Convention to address this
compliance concern.
2. Immediately cease advocacy efforts in support of the Delaware PTA Position Statement on Parent Opt Out HB50
including but not limited to website promotion, action alerts, e-newsletters, media interview and information
flyers.
We understand, and previously stated, that it will require ample time to amend or rescind Delawares position on Opt
Out HB50. However, we also requested that Delaware PTA immediate cease advocacy efforts in support of your
position. Review of your website indicates that the request to cease these efforts have been ignored. Further, in your
email dated February 15, you stated the following:
It is the decision of the Delaware State Board to not take any action with regards to National PTA's position
statement or request until such time as we have received sufficient information from National PTA.
Any PTA Affiliate failing to comply with the PTAs Standards of Affiliation shall receive notification from the National PTA
and shall be given 60 days to come into compliance. Per National PTA SOA Policy, if you are unable to comply with the
SOA requirements by April 26, 2016 (60 days from this notification), a support team will be assigned to Delaware PTA to
help create and implement a plan to move your PTA back into compliance. With you, our goal is to help you move into
compliance as quickly as possible.

Thank you for your attention to this matter, and thank you for all you do for PTA. We look forward to improved
collaboration moving forward so that all of National PTA advocates for every child with one voice.
Should you need additional clarification on this matter, please do not hesitate to contact me directly.
Sincerely,

Laura Bay
President, National PTA
