Creating

Example: The
teacher will start
to brainstorm ways
a Storybird is able
to help students of
all learning types
understand the
order of
operations.
Whether that is
talking about how
a story can help
them understand
and the parts of
the story that need
to be involved.

Example: Students
will use their
brainstorming ideas
to start to create
their own Storybird
book. They will
start to develop
their stories and
look at the art work
before going
deeper and looking
at the story as a
whole.

Students will be able

to use what they
learned about the
order of operations
and gain an idea on
how to create this
situation for
themselves to
understand.

Students will collaborate

together and exchange
ideas on what their stories
are about. This will allow
students to talk out what
they know about the
subject to help them gain a
deeper understanding. This
will also allow students to
fully understand what it all
means and why it is
important.

Understanding

Example: Teachers
would create an
All About ME
story before school
begins and share it
with students and
parents as a brief
introduction to the
parents and
students and
fellow teachers. It
would also be a
good way to
introduce the
Storybird
information to
them as a program
they will be using
in the future.

Example: Students
will use their
understanding of
Storybird and
create their own
All About Me
stories that help
engage students in
the lives of their
classmates and
help the teacher
better get to know
them.

Students would be
able to describe
what they learned
from fellow students
Storybirds and be
able to create some
sort of
understanding of it
all.

Students will work with

each other to get to know
one another. They will work
with groups of classmates
to get a better
understanding of each
other. They can then go
into the situation and figure
out which classmate wrote
which book based on what
they learned from that.

Applying

Example: Teachers
will have the
students write the
book using real
world issues that
occur in this world.
They will start by
brainstorming the
real world issues.

Example: Students
will look at the
issues that are
going on in our
world and try to
come up with
solutions that can
be used. They can
then use this to
create a book
presentation of
what they found
and where it is
going.

Applying I think
would work really
well in this situation
because the
students will have to
apply what they
know about the
current issues and
figure out a way to
make it more of a
fictional history
story. It also allows
them to apply what
they learned and
how it relates to the
issues going on
around them.

Students would
communicate with other
students regarding the
issues they feel are more
important. They could have
a class debate about which
are more important and
why. The students could
take the ideas they came
up with and come up with a
story book that allows the
students to fully
understand the situation.

Students will discuss with

other students why
photosynthesis happens
and this will again allow
them for review and will
allow them to start
brainstorming for their
Storybird story. Through
this the students will
gather the information that
they need and really grow
and develop this and really
allow it to change.

Remembering

Example: Students
will be introduced
to collaborative
tools that will allow
them to start to
understand the
basic parts of life
science. They will
use these to help
them learn what
they are and then
go on from there.

Example: Students
will take what they
learned previously
and they will use
that to generate
new questions and
ideas that they
might have about
certain things. This
will then allow the
students to review
what they have
learned and go
from there.

Students will use

their recall skills and
remember the parts
of photosynthesis
and other life
science concepts.
When remembering
these concepts,
students will be able
to review them and
be able to apply
what they learned.

Creating

Example: Teachers
will have the gifted
and talented
students use the
Storybird program
and create a
chapter book
about a subject of
their choice.

Example: As
students who are so
gifted and talented
they can create
their own kind of
chapter book. They
can integrate
multiple subjects
into it and see how
they correlate
together.

Creating is a good
concept for them to
use because they
are so smart it is
good for them to
really use their
creating to create a
book that is so
intense and fun to
create.

Students will work with

each other and collaborate
their ideas to really get the
most out of their chapter
books. Perhaps by
incorporating how science
and English correlate
together there will be a
better understanding of
how that can work together
to create something that is
beyond the norm in their
Storybird chapter book.

Other

Reflection: This matrix I found was very hard. I felt like in some ways that there are
only a certain number of things that you can do with Storybird. You just can create
stories and thats about as far as you are going to get with certain things. It was
tough to write because I felt like I was repeating myself and just saying they can
create and story and they will use the information they learned to create a story. It
was very tricky to understand at times. It was beneficial as a teacher to learn about
the program and ways to use it, but I am not sure if having a student use it to
create stories about different things will be beneficial to use all the time. It will be
good for the students to use their imaginations but beyond that, not so sure.
