1. Introduction to technology development

A cloud application (or cloud app) is an application program that functions in the
cloud, with some characteristics of a pure desktop app and some characteristics
of a pure Web app. A desktop app resides entirely on a single device at the
user's location (it doesn't necessarily have to be a desktop computer). A Web app
is stored entirely on a remote server and is delivered over the Internet through a
browser interface.
Like desktop apps, cloud apps can provide fast responsiveness and can work
offline. Like web apps, cloud apps need not permanently reside on the local
device, but they can be easily updated online. Cloud apps are therefore under
the user's constant control, yet they need not always consume storage space on
the user's computer or communications device. Assuming that the user has a
reasonably fast Internet connection, a well-written cloud app offers all the
interactivity of a desktop app along with the portability of a Web app.

If you have a cloud app, it can be used by anyone with a Web browser and a
communications device that can connect to the Internet. While tools exist and
can be modified in the cloud, the actual user interface exists on the local device.
The user can cache data locally, enabling full offline mode when desired. A cloud
app, unlike a Web app, can be used on board an aircraft or in any other sensitive
situation where wireless devices are not allowed, because the app will function
even when the Internet connection is disabled. In addition, cloud apps can

provide some functionality even when no Internet connection is available for

extended periods (while camping in a remote wilderness, for example).

Cloud apps have become popular among people who share content on the
Internet. Linebreak S.L., based in Spain, offers a cloud app named (appropriately
enough) "CloudApp," which allows subscribers to share files, images, links,
music, and videos. Amazon Web Services offers an "AppStore" that facilitates
quick and easy deployment of programs and applications stored in the cloud.
Google offers a solution called "AppEngine" that allows users to develop and run
their own applications on Google's infrastructure. Google also offers a popular
calendar (scheduling) cloud app.

2. Detailed analysis on how Trello supports businesses

Trello offers two paid options: Trello Gold, and Trello Business Class. Theyre
both ways to build on to the free Trello experienceTrello Gold offers a way for
individual users to take their Trello use to the next level, and Trello Business
Class is intended for multi-user teams to have more fine-grained control over
who can access their boards.

Trello Gold
Trello Gold expands Trellos core functions for individual users. Some of the
additional features are intended to be fun add-ons, while others are productivity
boosters. They include:
Bigger file uploads - 250 MB max file size vs. 10 MB max on our free plan
Custom board backgrounds - Upload your own or pick from our nine premium
predesigned backgrounds.
Extra stickers - Add flair to your cards with extra sticker packs
Custom emoji - Upload your own emoji for use in cards
Trello Gold costs $5 per month, or $45 per year. You can receive up to 12 months
of Trello Gold free by referring friends.

Trello Business Class

Trello Business Class includes privacy controls and other administrative tools
that are helpful to businesses that want to take greater control of their boards and
data. It also includes Trello Gold for all the users within the team. Rather than
upgrading one user at a time, youll upgrade an entire team to Business Class.
The upgrade gives you:
Business Class Power-Ups Integrate applications you use on a daily basis
right into your Trello boards
Collections Board Collections give you the ability to create groups of boards
for your team.
Priority Support Customers with Business Class get priority email support,
meaning well make sure your questions get answered within one business day,
guaranteed.
Smart Billing Business Class teams will only be charged for active users.
This Smart Billing is dynamic and automatic: when users become inactive, well
issue a prorated credit for their unused time. See Smart Billing for more details
on how this works.
Admin controls - Team admins can see public and private boards in their team,
and control who can create boards in the team.
Bulk-add members through Google Apps - Connect your business domain to
Trello, and manage members all at once.

Domain-restricted invites - Dont want team members from outside of your

company domain? You can restrict invites to only go to addresses at your
domain.
Deactivate members - Employees who leave the company can have their
account deactivated in your team, without removing their work or history. It is
helpful when transitioning a new person into the role.
Create outside observers - Business Class teams can have board observers,
who can see board content, but not edit it.
Bulk data export - Export your team's data all at once, in JSON or CSV. It is
helpful for easy backups.
Trello Gold - Business Class gives your team members access to all of the
Trello Gold features listed above, as well.
Trello Business Class costs $10 per team member per month, or $100 per team
member per year. The entire team has to be upgradedits not possible to have
partial Business Class.

3. Guide in using Trello

Build Your Own Productivity System
Your first step in using Trello is to create a new board. Click the (+) button next to
your profile name in the top right corner, choose New Board and give it a name.
Well call this board Blogging Workflow.

A Trello board can be either public or private. If youre the only one using Trello
then you can make your board private, as Trello boards are a great way to
organize your personal projects as well. But if you have a team to work with, then
Trello gives you an easy option to collaborate with others. To add members,
select Add Members from the sidebar and if your colleague isnt already on
Trello, enter the email address to invite them to your board. Once the member
accepts the invitation, you can start to engage them in your project.

Working With Lists

When you first create a board in Trello, it has three lists: To Do, Doing, and Done.
A default board is great for planning parties or some small project, but Trello also
lets you rename and add new lists to a board. To add a list either clicks the Add a
list button next to the rightmost list on the board or double-click any open
space on the board to add them.
Each list has few more actions that can be handy. To access them, click the small
drop-down triangle in any list to show the menu. Copy List makes a duplicate
copy of a list, useful if you have a standard template of a list you want to
duplicate. Subscribe notifies you when changes are made to cards in a list. Move
All Cards moves all cards to another list, useful if you want to shift all the
previous cards to new list. And Archive All Cards puts all cards in the list in the
archive, useful if you want to archive all cards at once in the list.

10

Working with Trello Cards

Now that your lists are set up, you can add some cards. Cards are essentially
individual tasks, and you can add them either via Add a card input at the
bottom of the lists or through context menu at the top of lists.
Then, there's a further way to add meaning to cards: labels. These colors with a
name let you quickly assign tasks to a section, and give you an immediate visual
connection to the type of task. They're also searchable to make it easy to find
tasks with those labels.
To add labels click the pencil icon on hover and then select Edit labels. Youll
notice 6 labels to choose from in Trello, but before that you have to name your
labels. Click Change label names for board and name them, my project has a
workflow from idea to post so therefore Ill rename them as per the list. But your
project may have different needs, so label them as per your requirement.

11

Deadlines are another important Trello feature. To add a due date, click the
pencil icon when hovering over a card and then select Change Due Date. Youll
notice a neat calendar layout, from there select your date and time. A badge with
the due date will appear on the card. A light grey badge means the card is due
more than 24 hours in the future, yellow means that its within 24 hours of being
due, and red means the card is due today.

12

To add members to a task, click the Change Members button when you hover
over the card, then search for the team member you want or click their avatar.
Click the avatar again if you want to remove someone from the card.

Then, as you're working and assigning tasks, you'll likely want to move your
cards around. Depending on the columns you setup, you might want to move
cards into the column of tasks that's assigned to a particular person, or move
them as they're nearing completion and moving through your workflow. Moving a
card is as simple as dragging and dropping it into the list and position you'd like.
Otherwise, you can click the Move Card button and select the board, list, and
position where you'd like the card.

13

There's one more neat option in your cards: checklists. If your task has subtasks, you can add them as a checklist inside the card, right alongside your
comments and attachments. Then, if you decide you'd like that task to have its
own card, you can click the Convert to Card link.

4. What have we learned from Trello

Information systems, also known as IS or CIS in the case of Computer

Information Systems is the study of computer hardware and software that people,
organizations, and businesses use to collect, create, process, and distribute
data. Through an education in IS you will learn both business and computer
science. CIS is more specifically geared towards computers and algorithmic
processes, whereas IS deals with functionality of computers rather than design.
Within the four years of an undergraduate degree you will study important topics
needed in the IS professional world including, but not limited to:

Computer programming

Software development

Mathematics

Management

Business
