Californias Drought

Introduction
Water scarcity and drought in
California is a serious issue.
California is suffering from a severe
lack of water. The worst drought in
the history of California.

What Is The Problem/Topic?

The problem is California is in a major
drought. Even though we are in a drought, we
are taking action in order to improve the
drought. For example, Fog Catching is one of
the most advanced methods to improve
Californias drought. The amount of water
we consume must be reduced as well.

What is causing the issue?

Drought is a two way process. It
includes the environment and the way
humans supply and demand water. A
drought is a shortage of water to meet
needs. La Nia and El Nio play a
major role in water scarcity. El Nio
restores water while La Nia does the
opposite.

What are the impacts to the environment?

One of the big problems that this drought has
caused is the depletion of the colorado
river. Due to there being no water, the land
is left very dry and that causes more
wildfires. And since there is very little
water, fighting off these fires has become
very difficult.

What are the impacts to global communities?

California is the 5th largest breadbasket
of the world. Many types of crops grow
here. If those crops are not grown then
much of the world will have to say
goodbye to certain types of foods,
especially the ones that grow only in
California.

What are the impacts to local communities?

Drought limits the amount of clean
water there is in California. Our fishing
industries and any other underwater
industries would be hurt because the
drought will cause the lakes and rivers
to dry out.

What are the impacts to personal health?

Droughts can cause unhealthy eating
habits due to the lack of fresh crops.
Droughts can cause people to stop
washing their hands in an effort to
conserve water. This can lead to the
spread of viruses.

What are current solutions?

The California government has made
water restriction all over the state.
They have urged the people to
conserve water, even urging people
to let their lawns die. Restaurants
can no longer automatically give
customers water, it has to be ordered.

What are new solutions?

- Water rationing
- Desalinization
- Agricultural cutbacks

Conclusion
The Drought in California has been the
most severe drought in recorded history.
THe drought is improving slowly. with
an exceptionally strong el nio ,
California has been able to get more
water. But we still have a ways to go
before this issue is solved.
