Help your child to

be a friend, not a
bully!
What is bullying? Bullying may be defined as a
person who uses a superior strength or influence
to intimidate someone, typically to force him/her
to do what one wants.
What are the different types of bullying?
Bullying can be classified into six sub-categories:
physical bullying, verbal bullying, emotional
bullying/abuse, sexual bullying, cyberbullying,
sibling abuse/bullying.
What consequences will a bully face in Mrs.
Wirths class? Mrs. Wirth has a strict no-bullying

policy. If a student is reported to be bullying, or

caught in the act, there will be consequences. The
complexity of these consequences may be
decided on a case-by-case basis. Students who
are bullying others will:
- Spend their recess time with the recess
monitor until Mrs. Wirth feels necessary
- Meet with the school principal and counselor
to discuss the situation
- Meet with Mrs. Wirth on a daily basis to
discuss progress being made in eliminating
this behavior
- Write a letter to the individual(s) on your
own time that address what happened and
how it will not happen again
Mrs. Wirth does not take these situations lightly
and will act accordingly when presented with
these conflicts. She loves all her students equally
and wishes to not spend time on such nonsense.
What precautions can we take to avoid this
behavior? Talk with students about what bullying
is, what the consequences are and what other
ways we can communicate with our peers if we
are upset or feeling frustrated. And, as always,
make it known that you and Mrs. Wirth is available
daily to discuss any situation that may be pressing
on their mind.
