Youth sensitized on 30% procurement opportunities

Youth Fund in partnership with Affirmative Action Social Development Fund (AASDF) Nairobi
County participated in a training and sensitization programme on government opportunities
available for young people held on 11th March, 2016 at St. Lukes Church grounds, Kibera
Constituency.

The aim of the forum being to increase awareness on the government opportunities. This was to go
a long way to enable young people, women & persons with disability to have confidence in the
Government and be able to participate and interact in the implementation of these programs,
especially the 30% procurement reservation for young people, women and persons with disability.
The AASDF program was launched in September, 2015 and seeks to strengthen the empowerment
of women, youth and persons with disabilities by establishing a learning and networking platform and
at the same time enabling the focus group take advantage of the existing government opportunities.
This therefore complements the efforts of the three affirmative Funds; YEDF, WEF & UWEZO.
Young people at the forum got more information on tips on how to qualify and access government
procurement opportunities in a presentation done by Youth Fund Enterprise Development Officer,
Morris Ondiek.
The forum was attended by Nairobi Women Representative, Rachael Shebesh, area member of
parliament Hon. Ken Okoth and other local leaders, as well as other officers from the Fund.
