Learning Experience Plan

Developmentally
Appropriate Practices

1) DAP This activity is developmentally appropriate because all children are aware
of galaxies within the universe. Children are interested in the stars, moon, and the
galaxy. Making their own galaxy will bring a personal experience to their learning.
2) Culture Most children were aware of the existence of the galaxy at the start of
the school year. For students who were not we have discussed and read books about
galaxies within the classroom.
3) Child Choice Although children are shown pictures of what a galaxy looks like
they are provided with various colors to create their very own galaxy.
4) Opportunities for Relationship Building The song presents the children with a
variety of new words to discuss with their peers as well as the teacher. Children
interact with each other to brainstorm ideas and creative designs.

Differentiation

For children who have a sensory issue and do not want to put their hands into the
oobleck I will provide them with utensils to stir and play with their galaxies.
