Subject: Ceragon GND Standard Update
Following reconsideration of the surge protector installation on our RG-8 IF cable, here
are the conclusions:
1. The surge protector is not required for the protection of our system.
2. The use of surge protectors cost is higher and requires periodic maintenance
(from customer or Ceragon, depends on relevant service contract)
3. The installation of the surge protector requires the use of an additional 2 N-Type
connectors which increases the insertion loss and possibility for faults and
extends the time for trouble shooting when needed.
4. Additional Sealing material and 16mm GND cable.
5. In cases where the country standard dictates the use of surge arrestors or where
is standard of customer the surge protector can be ordered and utilized (AA0218-0)

Installation Guidelines
1. ODU will be grounded utilizing one of the following connection methods:
a. ODU to existing GND bar on top of Tower, with proper GND values,
(designated for antennas). Under customer responsibility
b. ODU will be connected with proper C-Clamp to required 95mm GND cable
running from lightning rod on top of tower to GND point.
2. A GND bar on top of the tower should be installed by the customer. If is not
available and is not in the customer standards then the second option should be
used after agreement with customer. If not installed and is within standards then
the customer should be responsible for the mentioned.
3. RG-8 GND kits (SI-0391-0) should be installed in the following points
a. Top of tower
b. Cable tray bend from horizontal to vertical
c. Before entrance to equipment room in cases where the distance between
the tower and the equipment room is longer then 5 meter.
Note: If, IF cable is longer then 100m a GND kit will be installed every 50m.
