Project #: 1
Project Assignment: To paint a non-objective work using shapes and lines.
Artist/Demonstration: The name of the artist is Vassily Kandinsky
Titled or Untitled of my work: The work is named Untitled
Size of work: The size of the work is 14x17
Style or Movement: The style or movement was abstract expressionism
Medium: The medium used was water color on water color paper
Technique: Gradation with water color, using salt, flat wash, and glazing.

What did I learn from this project? Explain fully and clearly.
From this project I have learned that Vassily Kandinsky was a Russian non-objective artist who
created non-objective works and named many of his works using musical forms. Also by
completing this work I have learned how to correctly use shapes and lines to draw someones
attention to a work of art. I have also learned some new techniques including using salt to create
an awesome effect on any future works, and I also learned how to do flat washes and gradated
washes to great a less poster-paint look to my piece.

Project #: 2

Project Assignment: To draw a still life that included a mug, banana, persimmon, and any
flower of our choice.
Artist/Demonstration: The artist in this demonstration was Eva Gonzales.
Titled or Untitled of my work: The name of my work is Untitled
Size of work: The size of the work is
Style or Movement: The style or movement was Impressionism/Realism.
Medium: The medium used was pastel on blue pastel paper.
Technique: The techniques used for this work were drawing using tinting ad toning to create
different shades and glazing to create different layers of colors.

What did I learn from this project? Explain fully and clearly.
From this project I have correctly learned how to tint by adding white to an object to make it
look as if light is reflecting off it, and by using dark pastels to tone an object to make it look as if
it was in the shadow where there is no light. I learned how to correctly layer different colors to
create a color that I wanted, this part was particularly challenging for me however, and I seemed
to have done an excellent job in creating many effects that I wanted to create any color. For
example to create to create the color brown on the mug, I mixed various colors to create a shade
of brown, I used the colors orange, white, and ochre to create a similar looking brown. I also
used colors that I would have never thought to use on an object, for example I used the color blue
on the banana to create a shadow on the edge of it. This project seemed super interesting and
challenging to me and I hope that one day I will be able to do it again.

Project #: 3
Project Assignment: The project assignment was to draw and enlarge any section of a butterfly.
Artist/Demonstration: The name of the artist is Georgia OKeeffe.
Titled or Untitled of my work: The work is named Untitled
Size of work: The size of the work is
Style or Movement: The style or movement was Abstract Expressionism.
Medium: The medium used was pastel and peralesnce on black canvas
Technique: The techniques used for this assignment was water and soap lifting and glazing.

What did I learn from this project? Explain fully and clearly.
From this project I have learned why Georgia O Keeffe enlarged many objects in her works. To
When you enlarge works you can see more of every detail in the butterfly. With this particular
project I learned the importance of spray coating to enhance the color that you want to use for the
item, unlike the second project we did with the objects that mixed colors.

Project #: 4
Project Assignment: To draw a self-portrait of ourselves by using the darks and lights to
enhance our features.
Artist/Demonstration: The artist that I learned about in this project was Kathe Kollwitz.
Titled or Untitled: Untitled
Size of work: The size of my work is 9x12
Style or Movement: The style or movement was Expressionism.
Medium: The medium used was charcoal on gray charcoal paper.
Technique: The technique that I used was drawing with charcoals to create gradation from dark
to light, lifting, and glazing.

What did I learn from this project? Explain fully and clearly.
From the project I have learned how to correctly proportion a face including how to correctly
shade an eye, ear, nose, and mouth. In addition to learning how to shade I have also learned how
to highlight the appropriate areas in a face. By adding a highlight and shading to any object, you
can make any object seem real to life. And lastly in this project I have learned the importance of
not outlining an object, but rather to add the correct amount of lighting and shading to add make
a shape. But most importantly I gained knowledge on another artist, and hopefully I will be able
to distinguish her works when I see them.

Project #: 5
Project Assignment: The project assignment was to paint two bottles and a fruit and to
correctly shade them all.
Artist/Demonstration: The name of the artist is Georgia Morandi
Titled or Untitled of my work: The work is named Untitled
Size of work: The size of the work is 9 x 11
Style or Movement: The style or movement was Still life.
Medium: The medium used was acrylic paint on canvas.
Technique: The techniques used for this assignment was cross hatching, shading, tinting, and
toning.

What did I learn from this project? Explain fully and clearly.
From this particular project I learned firstly how to paint correctly and how to use proper brush
strokes to fill my objects. By using certain strokes in my work I learned that I can create lighter
or darker shades in certain areas. Working with acrylic paint I had to learn how to treat it
differently than watercolor paint, especially when I mix colors to tint, tone, and shade.
