Preparation/Materials/Resources:
Song on the SmartBoard
Pictures of body parts on the SmartBoard
Crayons
Pencils
Large white piece of paper
Anticipatory Set: (Activating prior knowledge/procedures, Preview/Review)
set boundaries
Set the guidelines how should we act when on the rug? Try your hardest in your
work. Keep our bodies in control.
Mini-Lesson: (Explain/Demonstrate the lesson)
Show pictures of body parts on the head on the SmartBoard.
Point to body part and ask what they are used for.
Procedures:
Students will draw a portrait of their face
Label the parts of the face (ears, eyes, mouth, and nose)
Early finishers add color to enhance drawing.
Demonstrate singing the song first.
Point to the body parts while singing.
Have students point to the body parts (on the picture) as the teacher sings
Have students stand up and sing the song with the teacher
Use the checklist to see if students are meeting the criteria.
Clean up/ Close out/ Review
2-3 students will be asked to share their drawings.
Review the functions of the body parts.
Assessment Time:

During centers call groups of four (throughout the entire week).
