Reviewing existing e-portfolios

The first e-portfolio I will be reviewing is Michael Alexander Perez

digital portfolio. He is pursuing a doctoral degree in civil engineering
with a focus in construction engineering and management at Auburn
University. More detailed information directly about him can be
found on the ABOUT page in his portfolio. The pages of his portfolio
look very professional and up to a high standard. This is due to effort
being put in by himself to create this great digital portfolio. The use
of appropriate pictures has definitely counted towards the eportfolio, as they demonstrate things that are explained by him. Also
the pictures show past events he attended in which supports the
overall idea of experience. Another factor is the simple not over
complicated layout, which to an extent has a minimalistic design
and that looks very effective, outstanding and professional. The
person shows himself as a candidate who would be amazing to hire
by other companies. Michael has also included all the necessary
information about him needed to show his character, skills and

experiences. Overall, I think he has made a good job and created a

well-designed portfolio that will catch the eye of every potential
employer.

The second e-portfolio I will be reviewing is Elizabeth Devores

portfolio. She has a particular interest in electrical enginerring and
currently studies in that filed. Her digital portfolio is unique and links
with her passion. The overall design shows this very clearly, because
of the use of the specific electric design as well as links to
electronics. I think her idea to do this in this way is very effective
and definitely standing out from others. A reasonable amount of
information has been used with clear images that show what has
been described. She shows herself in a way that no other person
does by showing creating thinking. Additionally the colours that
have been shown are very clear and because of that the text is easy

to read. Concluding from this I think this is a very successful eportfolio that any organisation will find interesting and unique.

A Report about digital portfolio, target audience and purpose

In this digital age, the web is an ideal home to share and showcase
your work. A digital portfolio is a purposeful collection of information
and digital artefacts. The electronic format allows faculty and other
professionals to evaluate student portfolios using technology, which
may include the Internet, CD-ROM, video, animation or audio.
Electronic portfolios are becoming a popular alternative to traditional
paper-based portfolios because they offer practitioners and peers
the opportunity to review, communicate and assess portfolios in an
asynchronous manner. The digital portfolio I will be making is aimed
at potential employers/departments of education (these will be my
main target audience), so I need to ensure that I can showcase my
skills/abilities to them as well as what I have already achieved in the
past. Concluding from this, the purpose of my digital portfolio is to
evidence learning outcomes, skills or competencies I have. The eportfolio will be mainly used for showing what you offer. Additionally,
a very important but often forgotten factor to remember is that, the
main purpose lies in showing yourself the best you can to others, in
order to beat the competition and be unique (as they are those who
may potentially give you a workplace.)

My chosen design
Pawel Gancarz

The design I have chosen to use to create my e-portfolio is the first

storyboard I made. I think the original design is unique, interesting and
catches the eye of potential employers. The variety of colours used,
designs and pictures makes it stand out amongst others. Users/potential
viewers are not bored viewing this portfolio as they see a lot of different
categories to search about as well as a lot of things to find out about me.
By this the needs of the target audience (potential employers) are met
and they are satisfied about the portfolio. Also another factor to this is
that my original design looks very modern and up to date. Because of this
the user is attracted to look deeper, not only into the digital portfolio but
into my interest field- computing. Concluding from this I think my design
will be successful in meeting its needs and satisfying potential employers.

Contingency time
The time in college cant only be relied on while doing assignment
work. In case of a server error, electricity breakdown or any other
situation that may occur, there is contingency time. In my case, I
have the contingency time for this assignment because I have a
backup in case. Firstly, I am spending time at home completing my
assignment and adjusting any things needed, this is so I am sure
that I get the best grade possible. Also I have a backup of my work
on services such as Google drive in case some of my storage
devices fail me, which means I can access the work immediately
without any problems. Adding to this I always leave some
contingency time by not leaving work to the last minute and
completing it on time on before. Sometimes if I am unable to access
the computer at home I can use the local library to do my work,
therefore I am always prepared for that.
