Two-digit Lesson 2

One group will work through the unifix cube activity
(middle/ average students)
o They will grab a bag of a random number of
unifix cubes and count the number of cubes in
the bag and record the number in their calendar
books
o They will then make groups of tens and ones
and write how many tens and how many ones
are in that number
o Once done, students will grab another bag and
complete the task again
A final group will work through the unifix cube activity
with myself
o Begin by working through one bag as a group to
ensure all students understand the task
o Divide students into smaller groups and have
them work through bags on their own, looking
at students work to ensure they are getting the
concept of two-digit numbers and provide
additional instruction if needed

After explaining the stations, let the students know
where they are going
o Have their names besides corresponding
stations
Yahtzee math with someone
Unifix Cubes math by myself
Unifix cubes w/ me math with teacher
o Have the group working with me meet at the
back table
o Have the groups playing Yahtzee divide
themselves into two groups of four and hand
out cards and dice to each group
o Have the group working on their own grab a bag
and begin working
Give students time to settle in and then begin working
on their assigned tasks

Students can identify key parts of a three-digit number
(clues ask for numbers with a 6 in the tens place)
Students understand that 345 means 3 hundreds 4
tens and 5 ones
