Summary of Tasks/Actions
Lesson 1 Prior to the lesson, I will pull some informational texts and make sure that each
one contains the elements that are listed on the scavenger hunt worksheet students will
complete. Students will come to the media center and sit on the floor in front of the
Promethean Board. I will present a short Power Point presentation about informational text
features. Next, I will use the document camera to project an informational text on the
Promethean Board and ask students questions about different text features in that book (e.g.
Using this Table of Contents, where can I find information about __________; Using the
index, where can I find information about, _______; Can you find the caption that goes with
this picture?, etc.). Students will then be given instructions to choose an informational text
and complete the worksheet that asks them specific questions about their text. Students will
then be told to find a seat at the tables and choose their book and get started.
Lesson 2 Prior to the lesson, students will have the KidPic app downloaded to their iPads.
Students will enter the media center and be seated at the tables. I will explain that they will be
creating a digital poster using information they have been studying in science and in the
library. I will explain how to use KidPic, what elements need to be included in their digital
poster.
