Course/Instructor:

Program(s)/Tools:
Adobe InDesign
Adobe Illustrator
Adobe Photoshop

Objectives:

Set up and align a two-sided, folded document. Learn how to wrap

text around an image. Use paragraph styles in InDesign. Advertise
for yourself or a company.

Process:

I used InDesign to make a grid for the layout, make lines for margins and fold lines, and import and place images, and to wrap text
around the image of my face. I used Adobe Illustrator to create the
logo on the front, using the shape and the blob brush tool. I used
Adobe Photoshop to modify colors and crop the image of me. I split
the image that opens like a gate in Photoshop as well so it will open.

layouts for a business card and letterhead. Use the basic tools of
Illustrator & InDesign.

I used free images from www.unsplash.com for the lens and paper/
pen in the background. For the eye, I took a photo of my own eye.
I used photoshop to cut, edit and place these images together. I used
InDesign to place and crop my designs for my card and letter, and to
place the writing and lines on the card and letter.

MONTAGE

Course/Instructor:
Comm 130 Section 01
Lindsey Lefevre

Programs/Tools:
Adobe Photoshop

Objectives:

Learn to manage photoshop layers and use layer masks. Learn to blend images together smoothy using
layter masts and filters. Apply typography appropriately.

Process:

I first combined the image of a lava pit below, with a portion of an image of the sky above. I blended
them using layer masking and the paint brush tool. I then pasted on my third image of the hand. I did
the same layer masking process there and took out its green background. I also removed the center
of the hand so that you could see through it into the background, giving the impression that the hand
is marked like Christs. Near the end of this process added the above quote and its reference, using
colors from the fire pit below.. I also did three other things to the hand. I brightened the hand by
adjusting the selective color settings. I also used selective color to make the background sky more teal
to be complimentary to the brick colors below it. I used the dodge tool to make the perimeter of the
hand look more bright. I also used the render filter to produce a lens flare effect in the middle of the
mark on the hand. This makes the center of the hand appear to glow directly around the mark. I also
brightened the hand using a gradient overlay tool for that layer of the image, and added some yellow
to the hand so it would be more brick to fit the color scheme.

Programs/Tools:
Adobe InDesign

Objectives:

Create a logo to fit a company or personal image. Design consistent

layouts for a business card and letterhead. Use the basic tools of
Illustrator & InDesign.

Process:

These three logos were created with the circle and star shape tools.
The colors are an analogous color scheme of shades of blue. Shapes
were either given a gradient or the line edges were given a mop
effect like you see on the left, giving a fuzzy, firey appearance. The
word STAR on the lower right was given an inner glow effect.

Objectives:

Learn basic photography skills. Use digital camera to take quality

image. Adjust brightness, contrrast, hue and saturation levels. Use a
filter to colorize the image. Make it an ad for a local business.

Process:

I used Daylight White color balance, added vibrancy, and removed

magenta to make roof appear less purple in order to match the color scheme. I also used patch tool and healing brush to remove a
temporary sign that was in the middle of the street, Bevel effect for
all text, and sharpened the words on the building. I also darkened
the photo a bit.

Programs/Tools:
Microsoft Word

Objectives:

Find, scan and import a high-quality image, create a full-bleed design, use text boxes for layout and insert the images and edit them in
Word.

Process:

I used Microsoft Word for this assignment, using the text box for the
title and using an analogous blue-shade color scheme. I created a
gradient box for the backgound to look like a sky, and gave sylistic
elements to the title text to make it seeem as if it were reflecting in
water.

Programs/Tools:
Microsoft Word

Objectives:

Apply design principles and use appopriate typography. Incoroporate Microsoft Word
skills make an appealing flier layout. Use the images provided to advertise the Graduate
Leadership Conference.

Process:

I first sketchedfour possible layouts. I made sure each of my layouts had plenty of
white space, an eye-catching title, and a degree of visual flow. I then decided on the
one that seemed the most aesthetically pleasing out of the four. To draw attention to
the title and make it have a more professional feel, I used[effect] to make the backdrop
of the title appear to shine. I then carefully chose a photograph that would fit well into
the left box area, and that said leadership to me. I also worked to make sure that the
photograph fit so that the rule of thirds was applied. I then applied the various elements of the flier so that your eye would catch the most important things first. I did
this by ordering the boxes by priority, and by enlarging the beginning text. I was given
the image, logo, and language for this flier.
