Grade Level: 4th and 5th

Lesson Focus: the focus of the lesson is bumping the


volleyball back and forth with a partner

# Of students: 20

Equipment and Facilities: the lesson will be taught on


the blacktop area and the equipment needed is ten
volleyballs.

Safety Considerations: some safety considerations


would be the kids running into each other if they are
not spaced out enough. Or running into the basketball
poles if they are not paying attention.
Lesson Specifics
Behavioral Contingencies: there will be a two strike
Previously Learned Skills: previously learned skills
policy as the first is a warning and the second one the are throwing and catching a football, dribbling and
student will be done with tiger pride for the day
passing a soccer ball. They have also dribbled and
shot a basketball.

Teaching Strategy: the teacher will be innovative by


walking around the practice area and give positive or
corrective feedback when needed.

Academic Language: bump- hit the volleyball with


your inner arms back to a partner

Psychomotor (P): SWBAT bump the volleyball to a partner using the cots with 80 percent
accuracy
Cognitive (C): swbat recite the cues of the skill for bumping the volleyball with 100 percent

Set Induction:
Today we will work on bumping the
volleyball. Does anyone know what that
means in volleyball terms? So when we
bump the ball we want to bend our knees,
one hand in a fist, the other wraps around
it thumbs aligned, then hit the both with
inside of arms. Can I have someone come
up and demonstrate how to bump the
ball? When I say so you are going to find
a partner then grab a ball and go find a
space to practice bumping the ball back
and forth.
Purpose:
The purpose of bumping the volleyball is
it is the major skill used in volleyball so it
is important for the students to learn the
proper way to do it in case they ever want
to play volleyball in the future.

When I say go the students will find a
partner, grab a volleyball then find a
space to practice and wait for my go
