DR. BENJAMIN BANKHURST


DR. PHILIP MEAD

Dr. Philip Mead is the Historian and


Curator at the Museum of the
American Revolution in
Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He
earned his Ph.D. in history at Harvard
University, where he completed a
thesis on soldiers' lives in the
Continental Army. He has published
scholarly articles and edited chapters
on numerous topics including the
career of private Joseph Plumb
Martin and the symbolism of George
Washington's sash.

Dr. Benjamin Bankhurst is an Assistant


Professor of History at Shepherd University,
specializing in the study of Colonial and
Revolutionary America. His first book, Ulster
Presbyterians and the Scots Irish Diaspora,
1750-1764 was published in 2013 and won the
Donald Murphy Prize from the American
Conference of Irish Studies.

WALTER WASHINGTON
Walter Washington is a direct descendant of
George Washingtons younger brother, Samuel.
He is an attorney in Charles Town, West
Virginia and the caretaker of Harewood,
another Washington family home in the area.

DOUG PERKS
Doug Perks is the immediate past president of
the Jefferson County Historical Society. He
taught social studies in the Jefferson County
schools for 30 years. He is currently the
historian at the Jefferson County Museum.

Peggy A. Smith is the long-time mayor of


Charles Town, West Virginia. She is
currently involved in efforts to create a
new arts district in Charles Town.
LYNN STASICK
Lynn Stasick is the first-ever Preservation
Alliance of West Virginia's State-Wide
Field Services Representative. Stasick, a
West Virginia University grad, has been
active in preservation efforts state-wide
for the past sixteen years.
MICHAEL LANGMYER
Michael is currently a Historic
Preservation major at Shepherd
University. In August 2015, he became an
AmeriCorps member with the Historic
Shepherdstown Commission. Also in
2015, Michael was inducted into Kappa
Delta Pi and Phi Alpha Theta, the
education and history honors societies,
respectively. Michael will graduate
Shepherd this May, and later will be
attending the University of Kentucky,
where he will earn his Masters degree in
Historic Preservation..
