Physical Education

Coach Regan
Welcome to Physical Education. This course will cover many aspects of health and
physical well-being. In this course, students will be exposed to a variety of sports
skills and fitness activities. Teamwork will be a big focus in the classroom as
students will get many opportunities to work with other students of varying
abilities. The objectives for the course are for all students to find activities that they
enjoy and to learn to be physically literate individuals.

WHAT TO WEAR
Taylor PE uniform OR
Plain white or grey crew neck t-shirt (no print) and plain black gym shorts (basketball
style)
PE uniform can be purchased for $16
First & last name must be permanently printed on the shirt and left leg of the shorts
Athletic shoes and socks required
PE clothes may not be altered (tying up shirts, graffiti, etc.)
Clothes must be taken home every Friday to be washed (they can be brought home more
often but dont forget to bring them back!)

LOCKS & LOCKERS

Each student will be assigned a lock and locker


If a lock is lost, check in the PE office to see if it has been turned in
Lost locks are $5
For the safety of your personal belongings, do not share your combination or your locker
with others

GRADING
A - 90%-100%
B - 80%-89%
C - 70%-79%
D - 60%-69%
F - 0%-59%
Students will receive 2 grades each week totaling 30 points; 1 for participation & 1 for
fitness
Participation grade 5 points per day for a total of 25 per week

o Dressing out
o Participation
o Sportsmanship
Fitness grade 5 points each Wednesday
o Fitness improvement
o Knowledge
o Skill
Grades will be available for viewing on the parent/student portal and will be updated
every Friday

RULES & EXPECTATIONS


Be on time for class
Check the board upon entering the locker room for:
o What we will be focusing on
o Where to meet
o Other important announcements

Dress out every day


Put forth your best effort every day
Respect each others differences and abilities
Only use equipment as instructed
No cameras or cell phones are allowed in the locker room (they will be confiscated)
Listen when the teacher is speaking
Follow directions
Be a good sport
No profanity is to be used
Points will be lost for not dressing out or participating fully
Discipline Process
o Warning
o Sit-out and loss of points
o Referral to the office

CURRICULUM
All PE classes will participate in Soccer, Basketball, Volleyball, and Flag Football as well
as a variety of other team and individual sports
Fitness will be the focus each Wednesday with an emphasis on the 4 required fitness tests
o Mile run
o Pacer
o Sit-ups
o Push-ups

NON-PARTICIPATION EXCUSES

Parent notes must state the reason for the excuse and be signed and dated
o Parent notes will be accepted for a maximum of 3 consecutive days
Medical excuses must specify the reason and number of days excused
Students are expected dress out even if they have a note

HOMEWORK
Students may turn in PE homework to make up for any missed points due to:
o Absences
o Loss of daily participation points
Up to 4 days worth of missed points can be made up each quarter (must be turned in
before final grades are posted for the quarter)
PE homework forms may be picked up from the PE office and returned to Mrs. Regan

I would like all parents and students to note that when anyone participates in a physical activity,
there is a possibility of an injury occurring. I will do my best to minimize the chance of injury. I
hope to provide each student with a fun and positive learning experience this year in Physical
Education!
