I can hardly believe that it is April already! With the excitement and
anticipation associated with spring also comes the knowledge that
we are nearing the end of the school year! And with the end of the
school year, comes the opportunity for students to put their best foot
forward and show what they know! This opportunity will come in the
form of several assessments. Please keep in mind our state (AIR)
testing dates are during the weeks of April 4-May 6. Please refer to
your childs classs testing schedule when scheduling appointments;
we ask that you do not schedule anything on these days since it is
extremely important that students are present for these tests. We also
ask that everyone makes a sincere effort to be at school on time to
get breakfast, unpack, etc. Please note that tardy students (after
8:30am) will not be permitted to enter classrooms that are testing
and will be held until the testing has been completed. .

Leader In Me Parent Engagement

Sta members Pam Berrier and Shannon Bozigar had the
opportunity to a^end a Leader in Me training January 26th and
27th in Marion, Ohio. Educators from across the state came
together for the facilitator training to focus on the parent and
family component of the principles found in The Leader in Me
process. Shared throughout the two days were ideas, ac;vi;es,
and resources to support you as your childs rst and most
important teacher, such as wri;ng a family mission statement
and making deposits in emo;onal bank accounts. Fostoria
Schools is proud to be your partner. By reinforcing the Seven
Habits principles your child learns at school, you will con;nue
to lay the founda;on for the educa;on of your childs mind,
heart, body and spirit at home. Please look for more
informa;on regarding a Leader in Me Family event to come!

Planning for
2016-2017
It is never too early to
begin planning for the next
school year. As we look
ahead to the 2016- 2017
school year we will begin
the process of placing
students in homerooms
and developing class
rosters. If you would like to
request your childs
teacher for the upcoming
school year and have a
valid academic reason,
please stop by the school
and complete the teacher
request form in the office.
These forms need to be
completed by Friday, April
29th. We will do our best to
honor all requests, but it is
important that we balance
our classes. Please note
that completing a request
does not guarantee this
placement for your child.

Music Program
Everyone is invited to the Fourth Grade Recorder/
Singing Program! The students will perform in the
FJSHS PAC on Tuesday, May 3, 2016 at 7:00 PM.
Fourth grader Emma Gregg will be the announcer,
while soloists Chelsea Tyson, Lily Aufdencamp, Lexi
Elrod, Damion McQuistion, Brennen Rose, Kaleb
Drain, Karma Williams and Tallon Townsend will be
featured on the recorders. After playing the recorders,
the students will sing a program celebrating a day off
in the life of a kid called Its Saturday! Come and join
the fun as the students sing about watching cartoons,
doing the chores and having a slumber party!

Wax Museum
The third grade teachers will be hosting a wax museum on Monday, May 9 from 6:00 until 7:00 pm at
FIES. Students in various classes across the building were able to choose a person they were interested
in learning more about and conduct research on them over the past several months. Students have been
hard at work creating a display to enhance their presentation based on their research at the museum. The
evening of the museum, students will be dressed as their famous person and will be sharing all the
interesting information they have learned. All students and parents are invited to join us in learning more
about these famous individuals!
