Warmer temperatures and

melted ice mean the annual walleye
spawning operation on Fort Peck
Reservoir is beginning early this
year and will soon be in full swing.
Volunteers are always welcome,
and needed, for the success of this
operation.
According to Heath Headley,
Montana Department of Fish,
Wildlife & Parks Fort Peck biologist,
agency staff and volunteers will
again be trapping fish and taking
eggs from areas in the upper Big Dry
Arm of the reservoir. The reservoir
is about 2 feet lower than last year,
Headley said, but we will continue
to focus the operation near Nelson
Creek.
FWP staff have been working
on setting up spawning barges,
holding pens, and test nets since
the last week in March. Headley
hopes to be in full operation now
in early April. If the test nets have
enough ripe walleye in them to
start spawning, we will begin a full
operation immediately, Headley
said. We plan on needing full
crews (including volunteers) from
the beginning of April through the
end of April, but we have gone into
May in the past. We are looking

to continue until we have our goal

for this year, which is 50-60 million
eggs.
Walleye spawning activity on
Fort Peck Reservoir usually doesnt
pick up until the second or third
week of April, and the peak typically
takes place somewhere between
April 18 - 21. However, the timing

and success of the spawn is heavily

dependent on water temperature,
which can fluctuate greatly. Headley
noted, The activities of fish are very
dependent on water temperatures.
And you never know what is going
to happen with spring weather in
eastern Montana.

There will be a Celebration of

Life for Ron G. Gore at 11:00 a.m.
on Saturday, April 16, 2016 at the
MorningStar Senior Living, located
at 4001 Bell Avenue in Billings
(southwest corner of Shiloh Road &
Central Avenue).

Ron, who died on December 2, 2015, was born on
April 15, 1934 in Billings. He was 81.

Ron was an athlete, teacher, coach, artist, sculptor,
photographer, trap shooter, hunter, small business owner,
builder, and had a great gift of gab.

Ron and his wife Lorretta were married on July 20,
1957. He began his teaching career in Sunburst where
they had two daughters, Mony and Sissy! They moved
to Glasgow in 1964 where he continued his teaching and
coaching career. He coached football, track, and rose to
varsity basketball coach of the Scotties. He also served as
Exalted Ruler for the Glasgow Elks Lodge #1922.

After retiring from teaching in 1990, Ron and Loretta
opened Gores Studio in Glasgow where he combined his
love of photography, art, and framing and matting.

Art was even influential in his coaching as he created
the Glasgow Scotty mascot image which he painted on
the basketball court. That mascot image is still used
today.

In 1995, they moved to Billings to be closer to family,
and to own and operate The Big Sky Frame Shop.

Ron is survived by his wife Loretta, daughters Melody
(David) McIntyre and Tami (George Jr.) Nicholas, four
grandchildren and other extended family.

LATEST ST.MARIE ACTIVITY & GOSSIP

....facts, opinions, questions, and latest gossip

Well hold on to your patooties and get this: I did not run
Pastor Collins out of St. Marie, my past articles were aimed
at 2 other gentlemen claiming to be deeply religious, NOT
Evangelist Collins. The preacher doesnt own any property
in Montana, is not a Sovereign (has lawyers and does not act
Pro-Se), and did not say he was going to sue me. He is NOT
an investor or developer, hes just a Throw down preaching
Evangelist. He is my friend and I like his preaching style that
isnt always Politically Correct. He preaches Old Time, out
of the Bible. However a lot of activity has happened while I
was down south for the winter:

1. DTM quit claimed 120 condo units to Bringing Back
God, Inc., Pastor Collins Ministry.

2. Faith At Work, LLC was filed with the State of
Montana on 11-19-15 with Assistant Pastor Jeff White as
contact and Merrill Frantz as principal and manager. I
challenged Preacher Collins on these 2 actions.

3. Preacher Collins said that he did not solicit these
actions, removed his Assist Pastor from Faith at Work LLC
paperwork. Last Thursday Bringing Back God ministries
quit claimed the 120 St.Marie condos to Hope, Homes, and
Heroes U.S.A. (recorded 3-31-16 Valley County Courthouse)

4. There is a Homes For Heroes, Inc., a licensed real estate
company out of Arizona that works with heroes including
military folks, firefighters, and law enforcement officers that
rely on Grants, Donations, and Fundraising to finance and
provide low cost and free housing.....not to be confused with
Hope, Homes, and Heroes U.S.A.

5. This morning I called the Arizona office of Hope,
Homes, and Heroes, U.S.A. to verify the Quit Claim recordings
and probe this outfit. I asked how long has this business been
working. Adam, a volunteer (and realtor) said it was newly
formed for this St. Marie project. I asked who was in charge, he
said Delaeyna Stapleton, a veteran herself. Adam said they had
gotten the paperwork and were organizing all the information.

6. I asked if they were aware of the liens, back taxes owed,
repairs needed, and costs to fire up the water, gas, and electric
utilities? He answered YES.

7. I asked if they had the bylaws, CC&Rs of the Village
Association and did they have knowledge of Montana
Condominium Law? Adam responded that these condos were
not in any Association and did not have to pay fees and I said
you dont have all the information that you need.

CONCLUSION- In comparison to past investors and
litigants I wish these folks well in their endeavor and the best
of luck. I made them aware that I would be watching their
actions closely and reporting this information and future
happenings in The BUZZ.

Walley Spawn continued from front

Last year, FWP staff and volunteers captured 18
different fish species for a total of 5,280 fish from March
31-April 23. Of that total, 1,740 were walleye. Female
walleye collected averaged 7.6 pounds, with males
averaging 2.9 pounds. The biggest walleye measured
was 15.9 pounds and 32.4 inches.
64 million walleye eggs were collected from the
ripe females. From those eggs, 3.6-million fingerlings
and 25.3-million fry were stocked back into Fort Peck
Reservoir. Various other walleye waters throughout the
state are also supplied with fish as a result of this annual
egg-taking effort.

Volunteers, Headley says, are key to the operation.
We wouldnt be able to set all the trap nets, collect fish,
and spawn them on a daily basis unless we had help,
he explained. Volunteers are the main reason this has
been so successful over the years.

Prospective volunteers who contact Headley at 406526-3471, EXT 206, will receive an information packet
containing a self-addressed envelope and volunteer
form, which must be completed and signed. Parents or
guardians must sign the form for minors.
Folks are asked to supply their preferred dates
to volunteer, so they should list the dates they desire,
Headley said. We will call to confirm the dates, so
its important for volunteers to provide us with phone
numbers where they can be reached both day and night.
It should be noted that most weekends are nearly full.
FWP will supply waders, raincoats, and cotton
gloves, but volunteers should bring the following:
Warm clothing, preferably in layers

Food for cold lunches

Camera equipment

Each day of the operation starts at 8 a.m. in the

conference room at the Fort Peck Hatchery. FWP
will provide transportation from the hatchery to the
spawning sites and back.
For those folks not able to volunteer, but who
still want to keep up with the spawning activity, there
is another avenue of outreach. Marc Kloker, Region
6 Information and Education Program Manager, will
be posting frequent updates from Headley about
the walleye spawn to the Region 6 Facebook page.
Updates will include current efforts and status, data
on fish and eggs collected, and photos and videos.

This will be a great way to keep the interested
public updated on our egg-collecting efforts on a
weekly basis, Kloker said. Providing photos and
videos of the fish, volunteers, and the operation
in general will give everyone a virtual first-hand
experience. Please like and follow by going
to the Region 6 Facebook page at facebook.com/
