EMERGENCY RESPONSE PLAN

Purpose
The Barron Canyon Bed and Breakfast Emergency Response Plan
(ERP) is a comprehensive safety net to follow in the event of a crisis
scenario. It provides the tools and means necessary to mitigate
potential disaster while running the Upper Madawaska Canoe Trip and
the Centennial Hiking Trip Itinerary. All Managers and guides will be in
possession of one and become adept at navigating through the ERP
before departure.

EMERGENCY RESPONSE PLAN

Roles/Responsibilities
Emergency Coordinators- Once notified of the crisis, the emergency
coordinator initiates the ERP managing Intel and manpower.
Evacuation Coordinator- is responsible for taking charge of, or
providing assistance in initiating the evacuation plan.
Communication Coordinator- gets a hold of onsite/offsite team
members and makes sure the correct people are notified.
Media Relations- in charge of public and media relations dealing with
stories and bad press.
Logistics coordinator- Ensures the necessary resources (vehicles,
stretchers, hospitals etc.) are allocated properly.
Business Continuity Manager- Manages normal business operations
and makes sure the logistics coordinator has the resources it needs
and that the managers/owners can concentrate fully on the crisis at
hand.
Field Staf- is in charge of providing necessary first aid and mitigating
the crisis until everything is stable or an evacuation can happen.

Directions to Centenniel Ridge
1. Head southeast toward Centennial Ridges Rd
2. Sharp right onto Centennial Ridges Rd
3. Turn right onto Frank MacDougall Pkwy/ON-60 E Continue to follow
ON-60 E
4. Turn left onto Hill St Destination will be on the right

Guides Emergency Response Plan


In Case Of Emergency Call 911
1. Call Wendy Tredmore (Manager on sight) to report the deviance
from the trip plan/itinerary
2. Asses medical condition
3. Determine course of action (e.g. continue trip, cancel remainder
of trip, modify trip, etc.)
4. If victims injuries require definitive care, use nearest evacuation
route to get to highway 60 to meet ambulance
5. Call Wendy Tredmore (Manager on sight) to update on current
situation

In Case of Vehicle Problems


1. If an accident has occurred, call local police department and/or
activate emergency response above
2. Call Wendy Tredmore (Manager on sight) to report the deviance
from the Trip Plan/Itinerary
3. Deal with incident
4. Call CAA for help
5. Call Wendy Tredmore (Manager on sight) to update on current
situation

In case of Non-Emergency Medical Problems


1. Assess injury/medical problem
2. Treat injury/medical problem according to WFR standards
3. In light of trip plan, interests of injured member, and moral
standards determine proper course of action
4. If continuation of trip in full is undesired/impossible take nearest
possible evacuation route to highway 60 (Refer to itinerary for
evacuation routes)
5. Use Direction to nearest hospital section to get to definitive
care if necessary or desired
6. Call Wendy Tredmore (Manager on sight) to report injury/medical
problem using satellite phone at first possible opportunity
