Thus, he indicated that | would need to bring the Court's request directly to AC Transit, hence this email. By way of background, at the direction of our Presiding Judge, Hon. Morris Jacobson, the Court is in the middle of a reorganization designed to, among other things, improve ‘our provision of services to the public. To that end, we are working to consolidate a number of case types and departments that largely involve self-represented litigants into one location in Hayward. For example, all Family Law, eviction cases, restraining orders, and small claims will move to Hayward over the coming months. As you might guess, many of the litigants in these case types are low income, and thus we are looking for ways to ease any barriers they might feel in getting to the Hayward Hall of Justice. And one idea we have for doing this is to allow the public to share the shuttle that currently is for use only by employees. This is a top priority for myself and Judge Jacobson, and | would love to get into contact with the right person or persons within AC Transit so that I can explain more about what ‘the Court is trying to do and explore possible solutions. At the recommendation of County Administrator Susan Muranishi, | recently discussed this issue with Mr. Aki Nakao, the former director of the Alameda County GSA. Mr. Nakao indicated that the current arrangement regarding the shuttle is by agreement between the County of Alameda and AC Transit, and that neither he nor the County was in a position to discuss altering the arrangement. Thus, he indicated that | would need to bring the Court's request directly to AC Transit, hence this email. By way of background, at the direction of our Presiding Judge, Hon. Morris Jacobson, the Court is in the middle of a reorganization designed to, among other things, improve our provision of services to the public. To that end, we are working to consolidate a number of case types and departments that largely involve self-represented litigants into one location in Hayward. For example, all Family Law, eviction cases, restraining orders, and small claims will move to Hayward over the coming months. As you might guess, many of the litigants in these case types are low income, and thus we are looking for ways to ease any barriers they might feel in getting to the Hayward Hall of Justice. And one idea we have for doing this is to allow the public to share the shuttle that currently is for use only by employees. This is a top priority for myself and Judge Jacobson, and | would love to get into contact with the right person or persons within AC Transit so that | can explain more about what the Court is trying to do and explore possible solutions.
