Contraction
Contraction Cycle
According to WHO (World Health Organization), 390 million people contracted dengue
each year, 500,000 of this cases turned into dengue hemorrhagic fever and in result
25,000 people died annually worldwide.
Dengue fever could easily be contracted anywhere, from rural to urban areas due to
open water sources and poor sanitation.
Dengue Hemorrhagic
Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever
fever
happens later on, when
dengue fever gets more
severe or acute. As dengue
fever gets more severe or
acute the condition causes
internal bleeding and a
significant drop in blood
pressure which can cause
severe shock that can lead to
death. This stage is also known
Urbanization
With more and more people joining or moving to
urban areas each year, the lack of job
opportunities or housing space could end up
creating slum areas around the city. Due to lack of
government supervision, thus these areas could
potentially be vulnerable to dengue assaults
because of their unhealthy lifestyle.
Alternative treatments
There are some natural treatments such as Papaya and Guava
leaves that have been proven to help treat dengue, by
increasing the amount of platelets or thrombocytes.
Symptoms
Nausea
Appetite loss
Severe headache
Nose bleeds
Internal Bleeding
Very low platelet level
Small blood spots under your skin

Wolbachia
Singapore
Singapore chose to
protect their citizens by
educating them, advising
them what they should
do to avoid dengue and
what should they do if
they contracted dengue.
They also drain any
potential water source in
the urban area that can
potentially cause dengue.
India
lndia approaches dengue by trying to eliminate aedes
mosquito larvas to grow up into adult mosquitoes by using
larvicides. If they survive, they will fog the city area and drive
them away over a period of time.
