One Year Plan by Mechanical Academy

PART I

I am sure till this time you guys are decently familiar with most of the subjects.
Divide your subjects in two categories,
1. subjects you are good at, and
2.subjects which need to focus on.
Firstly target on subjects which need your attention. Complete them by April. I have posted a list of books from
where you should study in the end of this post. Devote next two months for:
a. Completing subjects you are good at
b. Solving previous year IES Objective Questions (You can skip few less important subjects if you want)
Meanwhile, Do NOT forget to revise subjects you completed before April. I think one of the most important tool
for GATE is revision, especially for a branch like Mechanical where syllabus is very vast. For revision, maintain
a notebook. Write down all important concepts and formulas that you come across. I used Made Easys
handbook, but in the end it got very clumsy as I had to add so many more new formulas, concepts and pages
to it. So, I would recommend making a separate notebook for it. I will come up with such a handbook of
Mechanical Academy in few months which will be all you need for preparation.
As soon as July starts, move towards solving previous 15-20 years of GATE questions. Solve prev years twice.
There are two things which are important in this regard:
1. Star-mark important questions so that while re- revising you do not have to solve every question.
2. Try to think beyond questions (Very effective). Imagine some modifications, alterations in the question and
then think how you would have solved it.
Take 4 months for this (More than enough time). Again I am repeating, revision chalu rkhna. While solving prev
years, whichever topic you feel weak in, read that from standard books.
Do this diligently! Iske baad ki story itna krne k baad.
