PHYSICAL EDUCATION 20
GENERAL OUTCOME B- Students will understand, experience and appreciate the
health benefits that result from physical activity.
SPECIFIC LEARNING OUTCOMES

compare and contrast different nutrition programs that will positively affect
performance in physical activity; e.g., pre and post-competition
interpret the impact of the media and peer influences on body image
discuss the effects of performance-enhancing substances on body type and body
image as a part of physical activity
analyze the positive benefits gained from physical activity
understand the consequences and risks associated with an inactive lifestyle

GENERAL OUTCOME D- Students will assume responsibility to lead an active way of


life.
SPECIFIC LEARNING OUTCOMES

refine a personal plan that is self-motivating and encourages ongoing


participation
determine short- and long-term activity goals and a timeline for their attainment

explain that concepts, models and theories are often used in interpreting and
explaining observations and in predicting future observations
o analyze the effects of exercise on muscle fibre

o describe the relationship between fitness and efficiency of muscle action


o assess the physiological effects on the motor system of anabolic steroids
and energy-enhancing drugs such as creatine phosphate
