Nancy Isserlis
City Attorney
City of Spokane
Dear Nancy,
I am resigning my position as the City of Spokanes Chief Labor Assistant City
Attorney, effective May 7, 2016.
I am immensely proud to have been a part of the City Attorneys Office and to
have represented the City and its dedicated employees for the past seven years.
I will sincerely miss those clients and each of the attorneys and staff in our
office.
My professional passion is to provide effective and ethical legal representation
to employers who are tasked with handling dauntingly complex labor and
employment issues while remaining compassionate to their employees. I look
forward to joining a company that shares this passion, where I will continue to
serve employers in our community and region.
I have set my resignation date four workweeks out to provide sufficient time to
transfer my various roles and ongoing projects. To that end, I have prepared
and will separately provide a work-product document that identifies my
transition recommendations. 1 I am committed to facilitating a successful
transition for the City Attorneys Office and our clients.
Sincerely,

Erin A. Jacobson

Additionally, I remain willing to cooperate with any investigation or litigation interviews even
after my separation from the City and without being compelled or subpoenaed if and when
the Citys elected officials modify the process to ensure that I would not be violating the
attorney-client privilege by doing so. In fact, I would welcome it, as I believe the facts will show
that the City and its representatives acted appropriately and in the best interests of its citizens
and employees. Meanwhile, however, I refuse to breach my ethical obligations to my clients
because of political pressure.
