Dear Ms. Wright:
On April 12, 2016, the Credentials Committee of the Cook County Republican Party met to consider the
credentials of committeemen to attend the city and county conventions on April 13, and more generally,
to serve as committeemen.
Pursuant to the amendments to the bylaws of the Cook County Republican Party adopted on March 9,
2016, committeemen must meet certain requirements. The relevant provision is as follows:
SECTION 3. A vacancy shall exist in the office of Republican committeeman in any ward or
township in which an elected or appointed committeeman votes, or has voted, in the primary
for another political party in the previous eight years.
The Credentials Committee has determined that you have voted in a primary for the Democratic Party in
the previous eight years, and as such a vacancy now exists in the office of Republican ward
committeeman in your ward.
You are not eligible to participate in the conventions nor are you eligible to serve as a ward
committeeman.
We have notified or will notify the appropriate election authorities.
