I am a highly trained Recreation Facilitator with experience working with children ages 6
months-18 years. I am specifically interested in the Mental Health Tech position as a
Recreation Therapist for the Self-Injurious/Non-Suicidal Behavior Program.
I have been working with children my entire life in one capacity or another, but
professionally for the past 8 years. I find joy in creating new ways for children to learn
and also helping youth accomplish their goals. I have worked with the City of
Portsmouth Parks and Recreation for 5 years as a manager and supervisor specifically
dealing with underprivileged youth. Furthermore, I have also worked at the Ida Barbour
Early Learning Center in Portsmouth, VA for a total of 3 years. I have worked especially
well with females ages 7-18, as well as special needs children.
I would love the opportunity to interview for a position at your facility. My goal is to
enhance this establishment with my varied experience, areas of expertise, unique
approach to learning, and creative and critical thinking, to better a childs outlook on
learning and life. I also look forward to what your great facility has to offer me: the
