    Between 1607 and 1763, British ideals were extended far beyond their practice in England itself as the colonies developed independently in religion, economics, politics, and social structures. By 1763 some colonies had achieved religious toleration and a separation of church and state. Economically, the colonies grew out of their trade relationship with Britain and built their own capitalist system. In contrast to England's rigid class hierarchy, the colonies developed a more fluid social structure that allowed industrious individuals to rise in status. These changes illustrated how the colonists were becoming Americanized and building a new society distinct from British rule.

    thisAmericanizationofthetransplantedBritishcolonists.By1763,althoughsomecoloniesstill
    maintainedestablishedchurches,somecolonieshadaccomplishedreligioustolerationanda
    separationofchurchandstate.Inasimilareconomicrevolution,thecoloniesoutgrewtheir
    mercantilerelationshipwithBritain,anddevelopedanexpandingcapitalistsystemontheir
    own.IncontrasttothewelldefinedandhereditaryclassesofEngland,thecoloniesdevelopeda
    morefluidclassstructure,whichenabledindustriousindividualstoriseonthesocialladder.
    BuildingontheEnglishfoundationsofpoliticalliberty,thecolonistsextendedtheconceptsof
    libertyandselfgovernmentfarbeyondthoseenvisionedinEngland.

    Changesinreligion,economics,politics,andsocialstructuresillustratethis
    AmericanizationofthetransplantedBritishcolonists.Americanizationisbecomingapersonwho
    sharesAmericanvalues,beliefsandcustomsandisassimilatedintoAmericansociety.Theybuilt
    anewsocietytheytobreaktheholdEnglandhadonthem.Thesettlershadtoendamonarchy
    andstarttheirownformofgovernment.Manycolonieshadaccomplishedavirtualrevolutionfor

    religioustolerationandseparationofchurchandstate.Thecolonieshadastreamlineclass
    structure,whichgaveindividualsthechancetorise.

    Inasimilareconomicrevolution,thecoloniesoutgrewtheirmercantilerelationshipwith
    Britain,anddevelopedanexpandingcapitalistsystemontheirown.Theybelievedthatnomatter
    whoyouwere,ifyouhadagoodbusinessyoucouldmakemoneywithouthavingtotakeitfrom
    someoneelse.Thisiscalledcapitalism.Itdidnotworkbecausethecoloniesfiguredoutwaysto
    maketheirownmaterialsinsteadofusingEnglishones.

    BetweenthesettlementatJamestownin1607andtheTreatyofParisin1763,themost
    importantchangethatoccurredinthecolonieswastheextensionofBritishidealsfarbeyondthe
    practiceinEnglanditselfduetothenewlandamultipleculturestryingtoclaimthatland.

    By1763,althoughsomecoloniesstillmaintainedestablishedchurches,somecolonies
    hadaccomplishedreligioustolerationandaseparationofchurchandstate.Toventurefurther
    intothewestandclaim/gainmoreland,andcreateownreligiousbeliefsandchurches.

    IncontrasttothewelldefinedandhereditaryclassesofEngland,thecoloniesdeveloped
    amorefluidclassstructure,whichenabledindustriousindividualstoriseonthesocialladder.
    ThosewhowereabletoinvestintotheindustryoftheAmericanColoniesbecamewealthy.In
    Englandsocialclasseswerepredeterminedbasedonhereditarybirthclasses.Thosewhowere

    bornrichtendedtostayrichwhenlaterinlife.Thisappealaddedtothewanttoimmigrateto
    America.ThosewhowereindenturedservantsinBritain,camewantedtomovetoamerica
    becausetheyknewtheycouldhaveagoodfuturepossiblyexpandingtheireconomicstanding.
    Thisseparationhelpedthechangefrombritishcontroltotheindependencemovement.
