I am writing this letter of recommendation for Keandra Hunter, a student teacher from Lynchburg College during the spring semester of 2016. I served as her college supervisor and did classroom observations of her teaching, pre and post conferences, and evaluations of her performance. Keandra did two classroom placements, the first in fourth grade at Appomattox Elementary School in Appomattox County, Virginia and the second in kindergarten at Appomattox Primary School in Appomattox County, Virginia. During both placements she worked with experienced cooperating teachers who were also a part of the supervision process. Keandra showed tremendous growth during her student teaching placements. She worked well with her cooperating teachers and followed their lead in planning and instruction. She developed good rapport with her students and was aware of their developmental characteristics. Her classroom management was exceptional and she established clear routines and expectations. There were even situations when unexpected events forced her to handle tough situations, including a tornado that touched down very near the school during the school day. In planning, Keandras lessons reflected the Virginia Standards of Learning and division expectations. She differentiated her instruction based on formative assessments and extended learning by using small groups to reinforce whole group instruction. She also showed a good understanding of how to use available technology. I encouraged her to use research based teaching strategies in writing and reading, which she did frequently. She took suggestions to heart and always had the welfare of her students as her top priority. She was professional, stayed late, and went out of her way to participate in every phase of school life. As a former elementary school principal, I would strongly recommend you consider Keandra for a teaching position. Over the course of the semester, we had numerous conversations about the teaching profession and I know she is dedicated to helping all the students in her charge do their best. Sincerely,
Daniel L. Frazier Student Teacher Supervisor Lynchburg College
