Weebly Lesson Plan

Lesson 1
Lesson title: Creating a Weebly account
Grade level: 11th grade
Subject area/course: Post-high planning; college and career development
Length of lesson: At least one class period of approximately 60-75 minutes
General Learner Outcomes:
o Quality producer:
o Effective and ethical user of technology
Content standards: Hawaii Performance Standards for School Counselors
o Standard 1: The professional school counselor plans, organizes and delivers the school
counseling program
o 1.1: demonstrates positive interpersonal relationships with students.
o Standard 2: The professional school counselor is able to implement a school guidance
curriculum through the use of effective instructional skills and careful planning of
structured group sessions.
o 2.1: able to teach school guidance units effectively
Objectives: Students will have a Weebly account
Prerequisite skills: Computer access with Internet
Materials: Paper, pen/pencil, mobile lab
Procedures:
o Have all necessary materials ready to be given to students (worksheets, storyboards and
laptops)
o Write down computer login information for students
o Show students an example of a Weebly site.
o Have students sign out a laptop and they will write their name and number of the laptop.
o Have students login the computer with the necessary information
o Once everyone is logged in direct students to the Weebly website. Have students create a
Weebly account with step-by-step instructions. Remind students to write down their login
information somewhere safe.
o Inform students that they will create their own Weebly showcasing their post-high plans
or college/career goals. If they are enrolled in a CTE program, they will utilize the course
of work and showcase what they have been learning. They will include in their Weebly:
resume, examples of what they have been dong in their career tech program, and also
what their career goals are.
o Once all accounts are created, have students think about a title for their Weebly site.
o Have students explore the functions and capabilities of Weebly.
o Walk around to ensure that students are understanding of expectations and are ontask.
o Instruct students to log out of Weebly and their computers and shut down. Students will
return laptops to the mobile cart and sign out.
Differentiated instruction: Provide verbal instructions; have them printed out on a worksheet and
through example.
Independent Practice and Assessment:
o Student will complete presentation individually and submit to through email.

Lesson 2
Lesson title: Evaluating websites
Grade level: 11th grade
Subject area/course: Post-high planning; college and career development
Length of lesson: At least one class period of approximately 60-75 minutes
General Learner Outcomes:
o Quality producer:
o Effective and ethical user of technology
Content standards: Hawaii Performance Standards for School Counselors
o Standard 1: The professional school counselor plans, organizes and delivers the school
counseling program
o 1.1: demonstrates positive interpersonal relationships with students.
o Standard 2: The professional school counselor is able to implement a school guidance
curriculum through the use of effective instructional skills and careful planning of

Prerequisite skills: Computer access with Internet
Materials: Paper, pen/pencil, mobile lab
Procedures:
o Have all necessary materials ready to be given to students (worksheets, storyboards and
laptops)
o Write down computer login information for students
o Show students an example of a quality Weebly page.
o Have students sign out a laptop and they will write their name and number of the laptop.
o Have students login the computer with the necessary information
o Once everyone is logged in direct students to the Weebly website.
o Teacher will pass out worksheets of a bad website and identify what is wrong with it.
o Initiate a discussion about what the students recognize of a poor website. (What
makes a website attractive? Unattractive?)
o Have students login to their Weebly accounts and have them search up a weebly site of
their choice. With the given rubric, they will evaluate a presentation. Some of the
categories of the rubric is attractiveness and informative.
o Allow students about 30 minutes to complete their activity. Instructor will walk around to
ensure students are on-task and if there are any questions or concerns.
o Instruct students to log out of Weebly and their computers and shut down. Students will
return laptops to the mobile cart and sign out.
o In closing, have students answer the following questions: what they have learned about
what an effective Weebly site encompasses.

Lesson 3
Lesson title: Showcasing students interests and what theyve learned in a Career Technical
Education program
Grade level: 11th grade
Subject area/course: Career development
Length of lesson: At least one class period of approximately 60-75 minutes
General Learner Outcomes:

o Standard 1: The professional school counselor plans, organizes and delivers the school
counseling program

curriculum through the use of effective instructional skills and careful planning of

goals.

Materials: Paper, pen/pencil, mobile lab
Procedures:
o Pass out worksheets for the students to create their storyboard. Remind students that
creating a storyboard is important because you want to have a rough draft of your
presentation. Much like writing an essay. You want to have a draft, so you can make
changes as you go. Stress to students that there are many features to Weebly and that the
features may not look as good as you may thought.
o On the whiteboard, show students an example of what the storyboard should look like
and what details to include.
o Have students think about what they have learned in their CTE program. Have them
verbally explain why they entered that particular emphasis and what they have currently
learned while being in a career technical education program.
o Once the students have completed their storyboards, they are to show it to instructor of
completion. In order to start on your presentation you need to complete your storyboard
first.
o Instructor will assign a computer to designated students and students will sign off
for it. Stress to students that they are responsible for any damage to the computer.
o Remind students that the point of the storyboard is to help guide them in the
creation of their Weebly page
o Provide students a rubric of what the Weebly page should entail. Categories such
as: graphic elements, informative information, and attractiveness.
o Instructor will continue to walk around if students have any questions or concerns
regarding the creation of their Weebly sites.

o Instruct students to log out of Weebly and their computers and shut down. Students will
return laptops to the mobile cart and sign out.
o In closing, have students answer the following questions: what they have learned about
what an effective Weebly presentation encompasses.
