1. The agency that handles cases of Neglect and Abuse of children is the Child Protection
Agency.
2. Doctors, teachers, day care workers, and others who work with children are to report
suspect cases of neglect and abuse. These people are called mandated reporters.
3. Four factors that relate to school failures with juveniles are personal problems, social
class, tracking, and alienation.
4. The meaning of child abuse is a form of aggression against the child that often requires
medical attention. An example of child abuse is throwing and or suffocating. Neglect
refers to suffering at the hands of their parents. An example of neglect is lack of food and
or shelter.
5. The National Gang Center uses psychological view and rational choice view as to why
youths join gangs.
6. The four categories of gangs are social, party, serious delinquent, and organized gang.
7. Two reasons why juveniles drop out of school is because theyre seeking employment
and school dissatisfaction.
8. Some recognition signs of gangs are graffiti and secret vocabulary.
9. The type of gang who concentrates on drug use and sales but forgoes most delinquent
behavior is the party gang.
10. The most dangerous gang currently is the Mara Salvatrucha (MS-13) who originated in
California.

12. Some safe havens where families are allowed to drop off their newborn babies are
hospitals, police department, or fire department.
13. A form of expression not associated with actually speaking words is body language.
Clique: Small groups of friends who share intimate knowledge and confidences.
Abandonment: Parents physically leave their children with the intention of completely severing
the parent-child relationship.
Crowd: Loosely organized groups who share interests and activities.
Blended Family: Nuclear families that are the product of divorce and remarriage, blending one
parent from each of two families and their combines children into one family unit.
Graffiti: Inscriptions or drawings made on a wall or structure and used by delinquents for gang
messages and turf definition.

Broken Home: Home in which one or both parents are absent due to divorce or separation.
Children in such an environment may be prone to antisocial behavior.
Gang: Group of youths who collectively engage in delinquent behaviors.
Nuclear Family: A family unit composed of parents and their children. This smaller family
structure is subject to great stress due to the intense, close contact between parents and children.
