    shapedthewayIperceiveteachers.Thepassionanddedicationmymotherhadfor
    teachinghelpedmoldmyviewsofwhatitreallymeanstobeaneducator.Ihavelearned
    thatbecominganexceptionalteachercanbelifechanging,forstudents,aswellasfor
    myself.Ibelieveeverystudenthastherighttoanequalandindividualizededucation.
    WithmycertificationinBiologySecondaryEducationandSpecialEducation,itismy
    jobasaneducatortoassistthelearningofethicsandvaluesbyallowingmystudentsto
    thinkasindividuals.Ibelievethateducationshouldrevolvearoundinquisitivenessand
    therealworldexperiencesofstudents,aswellastheuseofthescientificmethod.
    Studentsgainknowledgethroughindividualexperience.Asafacilitatortotheir
    learning,Ienvisionthatmystudentsuseproblemsolvingandinductivethinkingto
    becomeknowledgeablecitizens.Ipromotegrouplearninganddiscussioninmy
    classroomtoencourageacurriculumcenteredonthestudentsinterestsand
    understanding.Forexample,whenteachingthehumancell,groupsofstudentsmaybuild
    andcreatetheirownmodelsofthecelltoenhancefamiliarityofthesubjectaswellas
    reinforcethecontent.Ibelievethatstudentsshouldlearnbydiscoveryandbydoing.The
    needfordiscoveryisinnateandshouldbenurturedthroughallaspectsofeducation.By
    understandingandembracingthatallstudentslearndiversely,Iwillensurethatmy
    classroomisfilledwithmultiplelearningstrategies.Asaneducator,Ibelieveinnurturing
    studentssocialandintellectualgrowth.Alongwithmystudents,Itoowillbeconstantly

    learning.Ibelievethateducationisneverendingandmywillingnesstogrowwill
    continuethroughoutmycareerasaneducator.
    Opencommunicationamongstmystudents,theirfamilies,andmyselfisofthe
    utmostimportance.Bybecomingateam,therelationshipbetweeneducatorsandparents
    canenforcelearningtocontinueathomeaswellasintheclassroom.Ibelievethat
    enthusiasmandpassionforknowledgeshouldbeportrayedinbothschoolandathome.
    Withsupportofbothfamilyandtheeducationcommunity,astudentssuccesswillbe
    amplified.
    ParalleltotheteachingsofreformerJohnDewey,learningthroughsocial
    interactioniscriticalinmyclassroom.Studentsshouldbeabletoanalyzeproblematic
    situationsandcometotheirownconclusionsobjectively.Ibelieveintheuseofthe
    scientificmethodinordertoassistproblemsolving.Asabiologymajor,thisstrategyis
    oftenusetotesthypothesesandtoformulatenewknowledgethroughobservation.By
    havingmystudentsusethismethod,theywillbeabletodrawtheirownconclusions
    basedonindividualresearch.Whenstudentsareabletodrawsimilarconclusions,
    throughgroupdiscussion,asenseofunitycanbeestablished.
    Myphilosophyoneducationderivesfromthebeliefthatallstudentsare
    individualsandareentitledtoeducationthatsuitstheirabilities.
