Purpose Statement
This portfolio is designed to document my development as a reflective educator during
my enrolment as a student of the Diploma in Education Programme 2015-2016. It serves to
systematically describe the main events that have taken place during my metamorphosis from a
teacher into a reflective educator. Information obtained from this portfolio will be instrumental in
assessing my development as a teacher both personally as well as practically.
Contained in this portfolio are items which have been key indicators of my
transformation as an all rounded reflective educator. These items include: - my autobiography,
teaching metaphor, teaching philosophy, self-portrait with students and colleague attestations,
reflective journals of important events during this programme and documentation regarding the
development of teaching practice. By including these pieces I will be creating a reflective
metaphor of myself. One in which I will utilize on my continued development of becoming an all
rounded educator.
