Song lyrics in English:

We want to get out of this dark time,

There is a man who speaks of a way.
He has shown us the enemy,
They are our neighbors.
Silently I weep for them.

I am told they are to blame

Liars, Thieves, Crooks
The filthy impure,
Silently I weep for them.

For our people

To have the life we deserve
Together we are strong
Dissent will make us weak

All those around me follow,

A war
Fighting towards perfection,
Throw out those that are not

I fear we are losing ourselves

I fear what we will become
Silently I weep

I dare not speak,

I will not be heard,
The voice of the people
Is only one word

Discussion
The subject of my song is the individual who finds himself swept up in the sea of
fanaticism that was the Nazi movement. The individual does not at heart agree with the
movement and is struggling with the intense social pressure of his environment. Fearing what
would happen were he to dare to speak out against this movement, quietly he laments to himself
over the evil that he is beginning to witness.
With the German economy in shambles and the newly established democracy struggling
to gain footing with the people, the setting was perfect for Hitlers Nazi party to step in and take
over. Hitler and his Nazis had an attractive charm and a definite sense of purpose which won
over many people. They were organized as a political party. With their crisp uniforms and strict
discipline they were very impressive to those who were not already aligned to one of the many
emerging political parties.
Once the Nazis began to grow in numbers, another seemingly unique quality began to
demonstrate itself: The Nazis were ruthless. Their ultimate goal as stated by Hitler was to
completely eradicate all other political parties so that they would be the only ones in power over
Germany. This totalitarian attitude and air of confidence is ultimately what led to their victory.
They put out into the nation that they were the party for Germany and they were able to convince
the people of it. As the German people were convinced of the Nazi ideals, anyone who spoke out
against them would be viewed as socially and morally incorrect. Depending on the severity of
their dissent, they could face punishment from the Nazis. For this reason, many who disagreed
with the Nazi movement were to keep it to themselves and go along with the rest of the nation.
