Competency 02: The teacher understands student diversity and knows how to

plan learning experiences and design assessments that are responsive to


differences among students and that promote all students learning.
Teachers must understand that the students will not all be the same. Teachers are
responsible for planning their lessons accordingly to meet all the needs of each
students. As well as making sure each type of learning style being taught may help
with each students backgrounds.
Competency 04: The teacher understands learning processes and factors that
impact student learning and demonstrates this knowledge by planning
effective, engaging instruction and appropriate assessments.
Teachers must understand that each student has a different way of learning. Each
student has different advantages and disadvantages when it comes to learning.
Teachers must understand and learn how to interact with each student according to
their abilities and disabilities.
Competency 05: The teacher knows how to establish a classroom climate that
fosters learning, equity, and excellence and uses this knowledge to create a
physical and emotional environment that is safe and productive.
Teachers must keep the environment in the classroom calm and all about learning.
Making sure the students understand that when they come into the classroom it is
time to get serious about school work and lessons being taught. As well as making
sure the students know that if they are having an issue with another student or other
issues they could have, that it is okay to come to the teacher for help.
Competency 06: The teacher understands strategies for creating an organized
and productive environment and for managing student behavior.
Teachers should understand that classroom rules are necessary to keep the
classroom and students at peace with each other as much as possible. Teachers
should make sure that students know when it is time to learn and what is and is not
acceptable in the classroom.
Competency 007: The teacher understands and applies principles and
strategies for communicating effectively in varied teaching and learning
contexts.

Teachers must understand that students learn differently and the teacher will have
to ask questions to see where the students stand in their lessons. Teachers will
present lessons to his/her classroom.
Competency 008: The teacher provides appropriate instruction that actively
engages students in the learning process.
Teachers must teach lesson plans that are relevant to the age level of the students
and that are in the lesson plans. Students will NOT pay attention if the lesson isnt
student applicable.
Competency 011: The teacher understands the importance of family
involvement in childrens education and knows how to interact and
communicate effectively with parents.
Teachers need to know their students and their guardians. You must be able to
communicate with the students guardians when needed. You must earn trust from
your students and their guardians. As well as letting the guardians know how
important at home interactions in school work help the student gain more practice
at their current lessons.
Competency 012: The teacher enhances professional knowledge and skills by
effectively interacting with other members of the professional community and
participating in various types of professional activities.
Teachers should feel free to ask questions from other staff members or teachers.
Teachers should always be looking for new ways to improve her skills and the best
way to do so is from other professional school board members.
Competency 013: The teacher understands and adheres to legal and ethical
requirements for educators and is knowledgeable of the structure of education
in Texas.
Teachers must know and understand the laws that are required for such a
profession. Knowing the laws means you know your rights as a teacher.
