In this article Drug Trafficking and Organized Crime: Connected but Different by Felipe
Caldern, he writes about the war on drugs. Drug smuggling and organized crimes are taking
over Mexico. Drug smuggling has become the main income of many people in Mexico and
people on the border. One of the main issue drug smugglers have is wondering how they will get
their products through the border. Law enforcement on the border is strong, but at the same
time there are some law enforcement officers who decide that they want to get a little extra cash
from the drug smugglers. Most people who are involved in organized crimes first started in drug
smuggling. Both drug smuggling and organized crimes cause a great deal of violence where
ever they are involved. Violence can not be left behind. in Mexico there has been an increase in
homicides due to the drug smuggling and organized crimes. All these deaths can be fixed by
strengthening our institutions and being more observant with what comes through our borers.

the Frontier Region of Mexico and the United States by Donald E. Klingner and Roberto
Moreno Espinosa they write about how war on drugs is a huge threat to public security and to
the border security. The violence due to the war of drugs is all over the news showing one
what happens to a person if they get involved. Many drug cartels involved with the war of drugs
have made the Mexican government very vulnerable to targeted or random drug violence and
also has made the Mexican government not go by their professional expertise. Our border
security is strong and aware of this problem. The short-term effect of the drug wars has been to
undermined by people everywhere. The security crisis generated by the war of drugs
encourages the expansion of executive power and undermines federalism. We need to increase
the power of the central government.
