The USA as an Aid to the World at Large
The United States of America has been a world power home, and has the rest of the world
to look up to them for guidelines as they see it as an elder brother. This is where foreign policies,
come in handy for the United States. I for one feel like international relations (IR), is a sort of
political expansions of our territorial boundaries. Lending a helping hand to our fellow
neighbors, but with an agenda behind it as a cover up for the bigger picture of national interest.
Its rather shallow for us but very profitable, no one is to blame really as its a system that has
been placed upon us by our forefathers.
We form alliances for our own national interest, some of them are for our economy and
other are for our defense. But a lot of them is for our national security, as the greatest fear of
most Americans is being under attack by terrorist. This has resulted in Obama to take action and
secure nuclear weapons and materials. He has been able to join hands with Senator Dick Lugar
in passing a law that will definitely help the United States and its allies work hand in hand to
secure and detect nuclear weapons. He didnt only stop at that to ensure the safety of Americans
but he also went on and pasted a bill together with Senator Chuck Hagel, this bill will is aimed to
reduce the number of nuclear weapons being put out in the world today. The only way America
is able to enforces these rules is due to its relationship with other countries they offered a service
to. Doing this to one country and expect this receiving country to do so in giving notice of
dictatorship but modernized at our image for our benefits. Yes, I cannot only look at the blind

spot of our IR; there are good things that come out of it i.e. the death of the number one most
wanted man Osama Bin Laden and lead a movement to a world free of terrorism and nuclear
weapons.
There is not only the defense part of IR, but also the economical part of it. This
economical part is rather an efficient way to strengthen the relations with another state; by setting
up an agreement of trading some goods over their borders for the good and prosperity of a
nation. Most of us who need electronics for our day to day activities, trade with a lot of south
eastern countries for manufacturing or supplies of this electronics. For example most of our
major American cooperations manufacture a good percent of their products oversea in places
like china or Taiwan for cheaper labor, or getting raw materials form poor African state due to
corrupt leaders. This is all to our benefits of saving money, but crippling the rest of the world and
we letting it get burnt for our only survival which is what matters first for us. Then the rest of the
world can probably go hang for all we care, as long as we have what we need then the rest is up
to them.
A lot of our mindset are good, but if we can make them work for the better of the world at
large it will be much better. We go by the three Ps policy; prepare, predict, prevent. This are
words that come with great meaning. However it has also ensured the survival of our great nation
for years, but to what expense though?
We prepare the future of our upcoming generation by creating alliance with other
countries, and we all know that its only to serve our cause when push comes to shove. We
predict situations in the long run how it may turn out to be either good or bad in our favor. But
we never sit to actually realize what harm and pain we cause other countries that look up to us.

We prevent situations that when predicted it cannot backfire at us, but if it does we are ready to
make it stop.
We go into wars under the umbrella of IR, in hope that our conquest of the world may not be
seen as anarchy or a dictatorship yet it is. Even though, in a lot of these cases we say we are
doing the world a favor; by eradicating terrorism yet we are the terrorist that cause and then
curse of the worlds problems at large. Just because we crave world power dominances does that
mean we should look down on human? , like a famous quote says and I quote Power is a conceit
and it reveals our limitations. Therefore, for the time that we think we have power, and can miss
use it we rather joke with an opportunity which is worth valuing. A situation of national security
one may say thats why we are doing this. But have you ever wondered if we did not set out on a
worldwide conquest we would be better off at peace, not worrying of a nuclear bomb to be
dropped over our heads in our sleep. A lot of this problems we are facing today as a nation we
caused it and we need not to take the blame, lets take a look at the Al Qaeda as we killed its
leader, another so called terrorism group ISIS came up causing more damage than the previous
group did. Instability, in the Middle East it is one way or the other our doing as we eliminated the
so called threat Saddam Hussein now we have it leaderless and with no government as well.
So it is in our power to fix it or do something about it.
In conclusion, I would say that America should learn to do its best at helping other countries,
rather than thrive on the opportunity to displace these countries. Also, America should also be
able to know that the quest for power cannot give them the superior standing over other
countries; but make them look unserious and like people chasing after shadows. Nevertheless,
America as a whole should come to a realization that involving themselves with other countries
can bring profit to help the country, yet not taking it for granted and making other countries look

foolish. But respecting other countries decisions and making peace reign between them and
many more.
