am happy to write a letter of recommendation in support of Katherine Casey, who I

have known for 3.5 years in my capacity as the Coordinator/Counselor of K0lia ma
Kapi'olani - The Native Hawaiian Career and Technical Education Project at Kapi'olani
Community College (KCC). Ms. Casey entered our program in August 2012, working
on prerequisites to seek admission to the nursing program, she is now in her graduating
semester and preparing to enter the work force.

Katherine is diligent in her school work, having earned a 3.39 cumulative GPA in a very
demanding and competitive field. She is currently completing a clinical at castle
Hospital and has past experiences at Queen's Hospital, Kapi'olani Medical Center for
Women & Children, Kuakini Medical Center and L6'ahi Hospital. Her clinical
evaluations have consistently been strong and one of her instructors commented, "l
strongly recommend Kat for this program. Kat is an excellent student who is wellprepared and knowledgeable. Her patients love her!"
While working with Katherine over the last three years, I have seen her utilize various
campus resources in order to help steer a successful educational pathway. she has
sought out guidance from the nursing counselors and has mandatory advising with me
er"[, se.elter. Community servlce hours are mandatory of KUlia ma Kapi'olani
partilipants and Katherine has given hertime and energy to Help, Understanding &
broup Support (HUGS) and KCC's Mdla Miunuunu. She has been diligent in
completing her kUlia piogram requirements, and this same tenacity will serve her well in
her nursing career.
