1-What was/were the learning objectives/outcomes of the lesson? (Add state objectives if
known, for example, TEKS 111.4. Grade 2.b.)
The objective was written on the board also it was in the power point's first slide. This class was
a Health Science class, and learning objective was Health and Wellness. And also, TEKS was
printed and hang on to the board with a magnet. TEKS was for this objective: By the end of this
lesson, the student should be able to summarize biological and chemical processes that maintain
homeostasis; explain the changes in structure and function due to trauma and disease; research
the global impact of disease prevention and cost containment; and evaluate positive and negative
effects of relationships on physical and emotional health.
2-How did the teacher begin and end the lesson?
The teacher started class with two bell work questions which were: What can you do to control
your own health? What changes can you make to take responsibility for your own health? At the
beginning of the class, student answered these two question. At the end of the class student did
group works on their chrome books and the teacher did summarize objective and took some
question about the topic.
3-What did the teacher use for teaching materials or instructional aids/equipment?
The teacher by using his laptop and projector showed a power point slides to the student and also
student used their own chrome books.
4-Which instructional methods and strategies did the teacher use? ( lecture, inquiry,
discovery learning, discussions, games or simulations, demonstrations, cooperative learning,
integration of technology, socrative questioning, etc)
First of all, the teacher used question and answer technique enormous time of class period. Also,
he used demonstrations method too while explaining some of the details.

5-How did the teacher assess learning? (informal, formal, formative, summative, oral, openended, quiz, feedback etc) See Chapter 8 for more information on assessment methods
The teacher during his lecturing he asked a lot of open ended questions to the students and he got
feedback from students. I like the method that the teacher used. By using open ended questions
he allowed students to share what is on their mind and can help identify classroom dynamics or
the impact of instructional changes that might not otherwise be mentioned.
6- What can you say about the teachers philosophy/beliefs and style?
(Traditional/progressive, behaviorist, student-centered vs. teacher centered, authoritative etc)
I think the style was student-centered vs. teacher-centered because the teacher did lecturing
during the class period that was teacher centered. Also teacher by asking open ended questions
he took students attention and obtained their participation.
7-How does the teacher manage classroom? Can you identify classroom management
techniques used?
There were three different grade level, and these students were all high school students. There
weren't any discipline issue, so I did not see any techniques that used in the class by teacher. All
students were ready to learn, and they were all looking forward to hearing something from the
teacher.
8-Observe in the classroom setting and determine types of behavior students play when offtask. What do they do when they are not paying attention? How does the teacher re-direct
them or get them back on task?
That happened two times in the class when the teacher gave them group work some students
were talking each other about their topics but when the teacher starts to talk they were all quiet
and pay attention. I think this class was the one of the best class that I saw in my education life.
9-How does the teacher communicate with students (verbal, vocal, meta-verbal or non-verbal
communication such as facial, body language, use of space, motion and time?)
The teacher was standing during the class period he walked around and did eye contacts with
students. He communicates with students verbal and by using body language.
10-Who were the students in the class? What did you notice about them? (Background,
diversity, attitude, motivation, interaction, participation, etc)
It was a mixed class from different grade level they were all high school students. They were
well behaved students. Also, these students very respectful to their teacher they sat down fifty
minutes and listened to their teacher and answered his questions without disrupt the class.

11-What did you see that is effective in engaging students? What do you see that is
ineffective in keeping students engaged?
Mostly teacher did lecturing and during lecturing, he asked open ended questions to the students.
By asking questions, the teacher actively made the students engage his lesson.
12-What are the two instructional strategies you observed and would like to apply in your
classroom?
First one is bell work it looked like worm up by asking questions at the beginning of the class he
prepares students to his object. And the second one is asking open ended questions these
questions kept students pay attention to the purpose and allowed them to share their ideas with
their class mates.
13-What are two important classroom management strategies that you observed and would
like to apply in your classroom?
For this part, I do not have anything to write since there was not any classroom management that
used by the teacher. As I mentioned in one of the previous questions that were one of the best
class that I saw in my past education life. I wish I would have this kind of classes in the future.
