Name Web
-You will write your name in the middle of the paper. Then, around your name you
will write facts about yourself
-The facts can be anything about themselves (e.g. height, favorite color, etc.)
-You will be asked to share the information you wrote down that you think would be
acceptable to share online
Group Time
-Get into groups of 3-4
-Each group will discuss and think about what not to share on the Internet
-Then, each group will present in front of the class about what they discussed
-Real life examples can be discussed
Application Time
-Go onto Lego.com and click sign up
-Questions to consider
Is this website safe to sign up for?
Is there any information they ask you that is personal?
Would your parents approve of you signing up on Lego.com?
Summarize
-Personal information on the Internet is important
-Private information should be kept to yourself
-Always be aware of website asking for personal information
-Discuss with an adult if it is okay to sign up on a website
-Only share information with people you can trust
Accommodations
-ELL: provide students with a document with all the necessary information from the
presentation (will be in students native language)
-Gifted: provide students with real life scenarios on a sheet. They must explain
whether or not it is safe to share information on the Internet.
-Lower Level: can use the Internet to look up what is safe and not safe to share on
the Internet if need be. However, they must attempt to figure out ideas on their own
before using the Internet.
Multiple Intelligences
-Verbal/Linguistic= students will present in front of the class
Theory
-Visual/Spatial-students will use the Internet when going on Lego.com
-Interpersonal- collaborating with other students during group discussion
Intrapersonal- the name web activity, each student will work alone. Share what they
thought would be acceptable to share online.
