1.

Choose a song or musical composition that communicates your

experience with writing and UWRT 1102. Consider including a video of the
song. Explain your choice.

I chose "This Probably Won't End Well" by All That Remains because it is about
ending what you have started and using what you have. I feel this is related to my
project because I have done research and I am finishing up with my thesis and my
portfolio. I feel that this is also related to my writing because it is about the ending
of something special. I feel that this project is a lot more complete than my portfolio
for 1101 UWRT and that this song reflects the end of my work.
2. If you were to teach this class, what ideas would you emphasise?
I feel that if I taught this class I would put more work into the research and the
ideology of the research. Helping students determine where they want the project to
go and what they want the outcome to be. I feel that the majority of the class was
taught well, I feel that I know how the project should be unlike UWRT 1101 where I
was guessing how the portfolio should look.
3. Explain how your understanding of rhetorical knowledge has changed over
the course of the semester using at least three examples from your writing.
Ex. Did you shift an assignment to better fit a particular genre like a
proposal?
I feel that rhetorical knowledge has definitely improved over the course of the
semester. As I was doing my research I remember trying to find articles that weren't
necessarily about success in businesses, but about success in general. After doing
plenty of research and not finding much about general success, I had to adapt to
fitting business success into general success.

4. Explain how your critical reading has improved during the semester. Ex. In
what ways did you read across texts for connections and patterns in your
inquiry?
I feel that my critical reading has not improved much but I feel that reading, along
with all the research I have done for this portfolio, has helped my critical reading
skills in general. It was difficult for me to read across texts and analyze them
because they were about the same exact thing. However, I did find that a common
trait of success is having a good attitude, and that was found in almost all of my
research.
5. Discuss your composing processes. Ex. Did you conduct additional
research while revising or after consulting a colleague? Provide at least three
examples to support your assertion.
I feel that my composing process was similar to a lot of other people's. I wrote down
everything I wanted to say in my final thesis and then I worked on putting in smooth
transitions.
6. Provide at least three examples of your knowledge of conventions Ex.

sentence level changes, MLA citations.

"He always believed that I could do amazing things in life and always pushed
me to do my best. However; sometimes I feel as if he pushed too far."
o I added this to the beginning of my second draft of my inquiry proposal
because my opening statement was very generic. I feel that what I Had

was not sufficient to open my proposal.

If you can do your best and believe in yourself with small goals and feeling a
sense of individual success, eventually it could build up and be seen as
societal success.
o I made this the closing statement of my proposal because my previous
closing statement was about excelling in your weaknesses. My topic

was success though, so I made my closing sentence relate back to

success.
Throughout all of the writing I have done and getting suggestions by my
peers they pointed out that I don't use a wide variety of words. By this I mean
that I would use the same word over and over instead of using synonyms.

7. Critical Reflection: A) Explain the importance of reflection in learning

processes. B) Explain what you think is important in providing commentary
on others work and receiving commentary on your own. C) Provide at least
three examples of your nuanced use of commentary in your writing projects.
1. I feel that the reflection of the learning process can be helpful for all of
your subjects. This allows you to understand what you're good at and
what you are not. I feel that what I did later in this portfolio was better
than what I had at the start for that reason.
2. I feel that commentary on work is also very beneficial to writers, it
helps you see what you could improve and also what others see as
confusing.
3. One of my peers showed me how a confusing paragraph can send a
wrong message in the introduction of the thesis. I was arguing against
myself which isn't necessarily bad, but it made my viewpoint seem
unclear. My peer also suggested that I put in my different definitions
for individual and societal success to make my paper clearer, while
exhibiting a personal twist in my thesis. Finally, one of my peers
suggested that I put in more knowledge about the author(s) for my 1st
annotated bibliography. That allowed me to realize, before getting too
far, to do more research on the author to make sure that the source
would be credible and reliable. I feel that these three examples of

feedback show that the comments received over the semester really
do help our writing benefit.
