RESEARCH TRAINING IN LINGUISTICS AT THE UNIVERSITIES OF

MANCHESTER AND SALFORD


2010-2011
Our programme offers 4 types of research training over a wide range of areas in
linguistics:
(i)
training in linguistics methodology e.g. statistics, experimental methods,
field linguistics
(ii)
training and updating knowledge in theoretical paradigms which support
students research
(iii) training and updating knowledge in the linguistic properties of particular
languages
(iv)
training in linguistics specific transferrable skills e.g. publishing in
linguistics, writing linguistics abstracts, presentation skills
This training is delivered through workshops held at Salford (UoS) and Manchester
(UoM).
