1. The Topic: The PowerPoint presentation is about community helpers
and how they play a role in our community. I have listed some jobs in
the communities in the PowerPoint. I grouped together doctors, nurses,
and veterinarians together based on the tools that they used and then
I have a slide for teachers and a slide for the tools that they used. Then
I have a slide for police officers and then a slide for the tools that they
used. After that I have a slide for firefighters and then a slide for the
tools they use. I want my students to become familiar with the jobs
that are out there. I also want students to know they can be anything
they want to be. I just want to give my students some background on
what is out there.
2. The Audience: This presentation will be presented to Ms. DeSouzas
kindergarten class. It is in Milford Primary School in Milford PA. On this
class there are 15 students, 5 girls and 10 boys. The age in the class
varies from 5-7. The students in the class are all from different
backgrounds and cultures.
There is one student with autism, he is very quiet and shy. I will make
sure he is sitting with his buddy, that way he will feel more comfortable
participating. Then when it comes time for centers and group work I

will make sure he is with his friend that way he is comfortable in the
group and his friend can help him with the activities.
3. Objectives:
Given pictures of a doctor, nurse, and veterinarians the students will
list the tools they will need in order to do his job with 100% accuracy.
This objective will be met on slides 3,4,5,6 where the pictures of
the doctor, nurse and veterinarians and their tools are presented.
Given a picture of a teacher the students will list the tools needed to
do this job with 100% accuracy.
This objective will be met on slides 7,8 where the pictures of the
teacher and her tools are presented.
Given a picture of a police officer the students will list the tools needed
to do this job with 100% accuracy.
This objective will be met on slides 9,10 where the pictures of the
police officer and his tools are presented.
Given a picture of a firefighter the students will list the tools needed to
do this job with 100% accuracy.
This objective will be met on slides 11,12 where the pictures of
the firefighter and his tools will be presented.
4. Support Media: The support media I used for this presentation was a
video from YouTube. It is in the second slide. Just click on the picture
and it will take you to the video. The video is a song about different
jobs in the community and what it means to do that job.

6. Follow-Up Activities:
1. After learning about some of the different careers that are in the
community they will get a worksheet and on the worksheet they will
have to fill out what they would like to be when they grow up and
why and then draw a picture about their sentence.
2. During centers on Wednesday, the computer center will be open
and the students can go to
http://pbskids.org/curiousgeorge/games/on_the_job/ and play a
game called on the job, which the students have to pick what tools
to use for the job they are given.
3. Again during centers on Friday, computers will be open again and
the students can go to http://vacareerview.org/k5/play-it/careertown/main.cfm. A game called Career Town. There they can pick to
be whatever they want. Then at the end of the day the students will
talk about their experience with the town and what jobs they took
on and how they did those jobs.
