Dear Professor Rosenberg,
As the semester is starting to end, I have written two essays, a report and and a
persuasive letter. When I started my first essay, the Rhetorical Essay, I knew this
will be different, considering that I never did a Rhetorical Essay. When I was
writing the essay, I learned new words from the project called Ethos, Pathos and
Logos. This will definitely be very useful for future essays.
When I was done with the Rhetorical Essay, you handed out the assignment for a
research report. It was hard at first, but it was well worth it in the end because I
now know how to make a report. I would have never thought that I would have to
talk to twenty-five students to fill out my survey on whether they believe global
warming is good or bad. As I finished asking the students, I had to explain in my
report what the process was like and the outcome of my survey. I was glad to do
this survey because I got to know that not everyone believes that global warming is
bad.
When midterm came around, I knew we had to write an essay. When you handed
out the article on what we have to write about, I knew this would be easy and hard
at the same time. I didnt understand what the government was doing with their
money regarding whether they did or did not lend money to the housing vouchers.
In the end, I managed to understand thanks to you, and also improve my writing
skills.
Not only did the midterm help me improve my writing skills, but the persuasive
made it even better. I would describe my experience in writing the letter as learning
a new way to write a letter that will persuade someone to do something. When I
decided whom to write the letter to, I had decided to go to for the government, but
Gina told me that the government was too general and I needed to be more
specific. So, I decided to write to a Senator from Connecticut, Christopher Murphy.

I could easily write something for ethos, pathos and logos because I had experience
writing this sort of topic in my rhetorical essay.
Out of all the writing topics I had to do, I felt that the research report came most
naturally to me because I knew what was happening around me and what caused it.
Overall I feel that my greatest strength was creating my report. It was quick for me
to find an article I could use for my research, and it was fun to know what people
think they believe on global warming. I know that I still need some improvements
on my comma splice, grammar and sentence fragments, but I know I will learn to
fix those mistakes and makes my work perfect. I truly believe that these exercise
will eventually help improve my vocabulary and writing skills in the future.
Sincerely,
Christian Neyra
