Lesson Title: I Scream for Ice Cream

Grade Level: Preschool

Circle one:
PKSN

ECE

Standard(s)/Guideline(s): With modeling and support explore the properties of objects and materials. Make inferences, generalizations, and
explanations based on evidence.
Pre-assessment of current knowledge: Students have been able to explore the changes in food from liquid to solid with the addition of heat
while exploring pancakes and hard-boiled eggs.
Instructional Objectives (1-2)

Assessment of Student Learning

One/Two Assessed Instructional

Objective(s): The student will be
able to...

Identify Evidence: (What will you collect or record as

data to demonstrate students have met your
objective(s) and skill?)

The students will be able to identify

the properties of ice cream, liquid
ingredients and a solid product.

I will take pictures of the students throughout the day

to demonstrate the students ability to measure their
ingredients. Additionally I will ask and record the
students response when I ask the students to identify
the solid and the liquid between the mixture and the
product. I will also ask the student to explain what
they added to the mixture to create the product and
record what they were able to learn through the
experiment.

The students will be able to explain

and generalize that with the addition
of the cold ice the liquid ingredients
where able to change to solid ice
cream.
One Assessed Developmental
Skill:
The students will be able to measure
and pour their own ingredients into
the bag.

Program Monitoring: (How will you aggregate or

compile your evidence into a class or group view?)
